This home for a successful business family of Ahmednagar on a plot of 8120 sq. ft. When the client approached them, the 'home' client were dreaming of, was already clear in their mind. The client mandate was simple and humble. A residence where all spaces remain interconnected like one's family. Client specifically told them to use 'Gokak' stone, which they wanted all over the bungalow.

The biggest concern of the client was the high-rise buildings around the plot. Therefore client wanted a sense of bold mass, which will stand out in the surrounding area. The main element in the project was the 'Gokak' stone and the challenge was to create a residence in the shadow of the buildings around the periphery of the plot, so the design focus was to maintain privacy as well as ventilation to every room. The first thought of the client was to have a traditional house, but the children convinced client to go for the modern design. So the product they see, is the fusion of modern and traditional style.

For the purpose of planning, the free flowing circulation through the whole bungalow gives the interconnection to the spaces. The double size spaces appears large, but they are relatively cozy in size. The entrance canopy is designed to break the direct visual connection from the surrounding buildings. The ground floor is specially designed to designed to accomodate major public areas with a cut-out that shifts across the floors, providing a visual connection to all the floors. The landscape around the living area is used to maintain a level of privacy from the outside but at the same time provide a freshness of green to the spaces inside. The first floor level provides an increased level of privacy for all the family lounges with bedrooms designed solely for the family members. The second floor consist gym area and a home theatre, with a connecting open to sky terrace. Overall, The design response generated a concept that focused on ensuring adequate natural light into the living spaces, without compromising on privacy.
