Brick Curtain House
VZ-What are some of your favorite projects/projects that you worked on? (What were the most exciting parts about it)
DS- Brick Curtain house, Cave House, JB Glass, CFC, Stack house, OMC are the few projects which were joyful projects for me. The common exciting factor in all the these projects were challenges to execute idea on site. They were demanding in terms of skill, communication and execution. For us the whole mythology was new in the context we live and work. So it required lot of attention and interaction from our side to achieve desired results. The outcome of this efforts were priceless.
SV House
VZ-What has been your most challenging project? (What were the challenges faced with topography, local climate, structure, clients, people, etc.)
DS- OMC meditation dome is one of the most challenging project. The brief of client was very exciting. They wanted to built a dome for mediation which is the exact miniature of earth. Half buried underground and half above ground. No steel to be used and the meditation platform will be floating on the water. The size is 33m in Dia. So this was a serious challenge and it is under construction right now.
Cave House
VZ-What would be your word of advice for all the young budding students and architects who are looking to make a mark in this professional world?
DS- Be Honest with yourself and do whatever pleases you. Enjoy the journey rather than the destination.
VZ-What are you expecting from the proposal and the participants for the Tiny House 2024?Example: Concept, Spatial Design, Site-Selection, Functionality
DS- Concept!
Nirmal Van House
VZ-Is there any aspect of the brief that appeals to you the most or do you find it the most challenging? Example: Area restriction, Spatial Adaptability, Functionality, and The overall experience of a Tiny House.
DS- Challenges and restrictions are guiding factor for the creativity and I always get excited if there are challenges. Site / project without any restriction of land, budget or idea is much more difficult Than the other way.
VZ-Explain your perspective when designing a Tiny House in today's day & age. Example: How would you approach this?
DS- For me any house is centre of joy. It is a place where person can express himself with utmost honesty. The house must be reflection of the user in terms of its expression.
