They always try to design spaces that have distinct character and design language. They start their architecture planning with studying the location of the house, surroundings and climatic conditions etc.

This house is located on a 6,000 sq.ft. of plot area in a tight neighbourhood. The house is divided into ground + 2 floors where all the main areas are allocated on ground and first and second floor is just the store and other utilities. The architecture form of this house is a simple linear form as if it’s following the x-axis only. Shadows creating through the metal screens with early morning light in interior spaces creates a magical space.

“16 SCREENS HOUSE” as name describes, the front façade is featuring 16 screens with a linear box form. The street side elevation is been designed opac keeping privacy in mind. These upper floor perforated screens allows natural light in upper area private spaces at the same time cut off direct exposure of those spaces to public realm. As you enter the house you would never imagine that there is such a huge backyard garden placed with lots of natural light coming in. it’s a surprise element for those who comes for the first time.

The staircase is the heart of the house. It is just more than a required element for them. This piece is centrally located in the house along with 2 huge artworks hand painted by a local artist portraying a bold attitude. This staircase is made out of Mild steel and wood. They have tried to make it as sleek as possible. These 12’ x4’ height Wall murals are the illustration of human and architecture form as house speaks relation between human and space. Also 4 human sized customized metal hanging lamps are installed at the triple height staircase space. The shape of the lamps is derived from free form totems. The rhythmic forms acts as an connection between the floors.

“True to the material” was concept to articulate every space. They wanted modern raw look so painted wall surfaces with grey lime paints. In some area they also used local crafted cane to achieve rawness. Walnut wood furniture and panels add neutral browns which add warmth. Green tones inject freshness to space. They have favoured lot of green shades to dress up interior. Also, metal was used in lot of elements to balance our chic palette.
