When a Bangalore born and raised couple wanted to build their home in Jayanagar - a place that still upholds the old Bangalore charm, they were sure they wanted a house adapting to the changing urbanscape. Thus the concept of an inward looking house covered by permeable spaces arrived.

Anugraha is a 4bhk house that is 3 storeyed. The first floor housing the semi-private spaces of the house has the exterior clad with Terracota jaali and teak louvred windows on pivot, whereas the upper floors housing the private bedroom spaces have a curved brick wall and minimum road facing openings.

This family-centric home has an open living-dining-kitchen and pooja area which ultimately forms the heart of the residence.

One of the most beautiful spaces in the house is a double-height open dining area where the spaces in the upper floor overlook. The Dining area is flanked on either side with an indoor landscape with a seater and a Pooja area on the other side which is brought to life by the huge skylight.

The concept of having a home with a character and visual intrigue was created by layering the spaces with elements of history and nostalgia that resonate with the clients. The interiors of the house was done such that it blends with the spaces adapting the ‘Less is more’ concept. A fine balance between indoor and outdoor spaces, sufficient natural light, and ample greenery are some key highlights of the project. The overall house boasts of a earthy palette, with the warm wooden textures, rustic finshes of terracotta and bricks and greenery.

Anugraha means grace that is reflected in the overall architecture and interiors with the curved elements that add grace to the spaces and nothing like brick and terracotta jali that ages gracefully!
