The house is for single-family and sets upon a plot area of 600 sq. Yards. The client's inclination towards Indian art gives rise to the design of this house which is completely Indian in terms of planning, designing and material palette used.

The client had a very specific requirement about the space needing 4 bedrooms and 1 guest room. Hence covering the complete plot wasn’t the scenario, in contrast, the emphasis was given to placing the building according to the sun's path. A 10 ft wide space at the rear has been isolated for the inflow of light and air.

The building has been designed in two axises horizontal and vertical. Horizontal cross-ventilation and connecting all vertical spaces with each other were the focus.

Planning has been inspired by Indian architecture and the complete house revolves around the central courtyard which is the central core of the house and is connected to all the areas of the house.

On the ground floor, semi-private areas are placed like a big terrace garden, a pooja room just adjacent to it, kitchen and dining area which are secluded and are placed at the back.

On the first floor, three bedrooms are placed and a lounge area is connected to the central courtyard on the ground floor.

On the second floor, all the recreational spaces have been placed like a gym and home theatre. A big terrace garden has been designed which connects the outdoor spaces at different levels.

Massing has been done in the form of stepped gardens again inspired by stepped farming in India and different blocks have been added at different levels. Elevations are derived from the concept of form follows function. A cantilevered box on the first floor has been protruded which is a study area and placed very secluded to the rest of the house maintaining the sanctity of the space.

Material has been primarily connected to the Indian context be it flooring, Sanitary fittings everything has been made in India. The flooring of the house has been completely laid with Jaisalmer stone and Indian Kharappa. Apart from that, a very subtle color palette has been used throughout the house.

The material palette is completely Indian. Bamboo has been used to screen of the green garden on the ground floor, Slate stones have been used in the facade along with the very minimal color palette. Solid teak wood has been added on balconies and the faces along with cement texture paint on the study area.

A detailed study has been done to understand the essence of real India. A team of artists, a furniture designer company Alankaram assisted by the architect has derived to the outcomes of this house.

A 28' long painting placed in the central courtyard depicts the client's inclination toward Lord Krishna and hence a style of art has been chosen to depict that. A skylight has been placed just over it from where the sun penetrates and falls on the painting which enhances the textures and colors.

Every piece of furniture in the house is custom designed and is inspired by the Indian context. Overall house is a fusion of contemporary and traditional architecture.
