Cosy Box, well known for exuding glamour and charm in Cannes opens its door in the heart of New Delhi at One Golden Mile. Nestled amongst nature and spread over 7500 square feet, each corner of the restaurant is an ode to the capital’s regal roots that draws on themes of glamorous excess. Cosy box; is an experience to un/box a rich palette of color, textures and especially art.
The design of the entire restaurant is eye-catching and stands inspired by its surroundings seeking inspiration from the colours around. The space has magnificently provided its own visual identity with an architectural façade design which includes a 150 feet wide running façade featuring a lit canopy concept that is an immediate draw for its patrons and stands as the main focal point for the entire landscape compound. The façade uses curved ‘alabaster’ canopies and running arches through a Memphis inspired form of development. The façade changes its character and emits a different personality from day to night playing around with the light and reflection in the evenings. The use of Jade tone Terrazzo throughout the space is so much more than a mere ‘trend’, it offers unexpected twists and demonstrates the versatility of the age-old stone. Hues of green and whites have been incorporated superbly within the outer deck inspired by the landscape evoking a sense of belonging to the place. The interior part of the restaurant has been created thoughtfully using the colour Cantaloupe, a warm rose coffee colour that brings a sense of warmth, comfort and welcomeness to the guests. The colour used justifies the cosy concept, where one feels happy not only with the food experience but the ambience created using the various design elements. Quirky art installations and eclectic powder rooms prove to be popular photo booth attractions at the space. The rustic blue terrace infused with pops of yellow and orange stands inspired by a cosy cloud, a statement area with visual connectivity from the entire compound.

Terrazzo is having a moment at Cosy Box bursting with pattern and intrigue. The entire design and aesthetic of the restaurant has a keen focus on colours and the use of this gorgeous material. The space has magnificently been provided with its own visual identity by the design team with an architectural façade which includes a 150 feet wide running façade featuring a lit canopy concept. It immediately draws the attention of patrons and stands as the main focal point for the entire landscape compound. Entwined within the verdant greens, the Outer Deck also referred to as ‘Cosy Deck’ takes inspiration from its surroundings. There’s a warmth and welcomeness to this area engulfed in hues of greens and white with only the façade creating a bold welcoming statement. Created using a Memphis inspired design language, the façade uses bold forms and the foreground canvas has been planned with a dramatic terrazzo inlay infused with colour. Tones of orange used in the landscape and customized lamps act as a perfect contrast to the space. The terrazzo flows into the inside area and nimbly climbs onto the planters creating a seamless expansive vision. No element can be less important or more important than the other, the addition of sunflowers and infusing art into spaces merge and yet contrasts wonderfully with the entire area. Tabletops are customised boasting a tile inlay concept along with wicker furniture in hues of olive green. Taking the inspiration from the contextual earthy material palette; the rustic exposed bar front has been designed using material that is raw and earthy at its seams and folds.
Leading the way into the interior expanse of the restaurant stands a grand arch entry hallway laden with foliage. A soft coffee blush takes over the colour scheme for the interior portion ‘Cantaloupe’. A sensory delight, the overall ambience created with the soothing colours justifies the sense of ‘cosy’ as the name suggests. The exterior flooring continues its way into the inside area with a change of inlay that allows an area bifurcation. A great meal is an emotional experience, and incomplete without extraordinary furniture. The interior furnishings all in complementary shades of olives and greens blend magnificently with the foliage concept, including the vaults brimming with foliage placed on the walls. The 360-degree bar stands connected to the inner area and the outer deck and is the heart and hearth of the restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant, one is greeted by a quirky installation ‘the drunken man’, a candy shot area and an in and out glass box with a sunflower installation. The key visual here is the spheres breaking the flooring inlays and the material palette that uses minimal materials but with different inlays packing a punch. The lights are customised in cantaloupe hues continuing the colour story as the entrance foyer leads to the private dining area and the common dinner zone.
Guests arrive at the private members-only dining area through the vault, where the cantaloupe story continues using exposed pink slate for wall cladding. A flair for drama is showcased with the blush drape canopy and the green terrazzo flooring flows into a pink inlay. The design team adds the glamour by incorporating contrasting hues in furniture and customised sculpture artwork showcasing and supporting emerging artists. This room blurs the lines between casual dining and leaves you to enjoy a curated and niche experience. The Cosy Box powder room isn’t just a half bathroom, it perfectly shows off the restaurant's personality. The female powder room has an eye-catching “sin apple” installation designed by Pantone Collective, is just the right amount of fun with intricacies of style and design and is a very popular photo-op. The “art decoration” inspired vanity is customised in pink hues while the art decoration inspired geometric tiles are customised with ornamented doors. A striking conversation ledge in the male powder room is all things masculine made up with a glass brick concept, often ending up as the photo booth attraction. Inspired by Ricardo Bofill and the concept of a cosy cloud, the blue staircase swiftly transitions from the terrazzo floor into a rustic finished blue terrace. The colours and site language reflect well within the staircase with layers of orange being incorporated as pop-up landscapes and red customised foliage sitting in embossed tile planters along the way. The staircase utilises the elements around it and has become a statement area with visual connectivity from the entire compound.
The gazebo area where Tuscany serves as the perfect spot to reminisce one’s impending travels to Italy. A resplendent and tranquil spot amidst a green foliage deck, the concept lends itself to the outer kitchen with customised tiles and murals. A rustic water body acts as the central element that allows one to immerse themselves completely within the peace and serenity that the space emits. All these design elements on their own may sound wayward, but as soon as you put them together, it creates a visual that is spectacular and magical through and through.
