A triangular shaped site which was offered to us was a very exciting challenge to accommodate all the requirements of the clients within the boundary of 1400 sqft and also create an exciting space which allows an interaction and connect between the indoor and outdoor environment. The fully grown Tabebuia trees adjacent to the site gave us a huge inspiration to extract perforations in built forms and helping us to enjoy panoramic view of the trees during the spring season. Inspired by the ripple effect of the waves we happen to breakthrough the site with fluidic forms. Each elements of the house have been conceptually fragmented to achieve the desired outcome. The plans are free flowing and allowing one’s eyes to smoothly flow from one space to the other with inserts of solid cuboids turning in private areas of the house. We tried to experiment with the inspired forms in details such as skylights, railings, façade treatments thus allowing certain energy to flow within the built spaces. Material palette were kept simple with brick clad and concrete smeared walls blending with abundant green patches in and around the site.

A young couple with 2 children, having been spent most of their lives living in Bangalore and constructed a dream to build a simple yet a modern house in a gated community on the outskirts of city. Working as Software engineers in reputed companies they opted for a very interesting plot measuring roughly around 1400sqft with fully grown tabebuia trees and had a tapered end towards north surrounded 3 sides with roads and natural slope to the site, sensing to be amidst nature and being in a peaceful environment during their stay.

The requirement consisted of a typical usage of 3-bedroom house having the priority of much open plan concept with necessity of ample light and ventilation throughout the house. As the site had its own challenges the clients gave a free hand to the designers to accommodate optimum utilization of spaces and to avoid much of an acute dead corner.
