The project is located in DLF Magnolias, Gurgaon, in a 4500 sqft apartment. The clients brief was for a feeling of arrival at the entrance foyer, a suitable partition between the family room and formal living, a cosy family room space serving as the heart of the home and a utility space carved out from within the kitchen.

Inspired by the family's collection of beautiful artwork, furniture and antiques collected over the years, the aim of the project was to create a sequence of spaces and moments which would create a feeling of calm and timelessness .The choreography of movement builds up an experiential quality lending to a rich spatial experience.

The design proposed was minimalistic so as to serve as a suitable backdrop to the richness of the antiques, with an  emphasis given to craftsmanship and detailing.  The moodboard is composed of a subtle collection of textures ,materials and elements such as solid teak wood, fluted glass, custom designed solid brass handles, gypsum partitions with pocket doors, raw silk wallpaper ,soft textured walls and hand painted full scale artwork.

At the entrance to the flat, a full scale hand painted Gond artwork acts as a beacon at the end of the entrance foyer, featuring the clients love of traditional Indian art and craft. On the right side, the niche space features antique Nepali suspended lights and an antique console, with the walls painted in a customized soft coffee shade of marmorino texture paint.

The double doors in solid, teak and fluted glass, lead to the family room and formal living, interconnected with a pocket sliding door. The formal living has a rich array of antique furniture , offset by a raw silk wallpaper and the soft beige hues of texture paint, with partial oak false ceiling and banana fibre mushroom lights from Oorjaa creating a soft light and texture. The bar is tucked unobtrusively into a corner, with a rattan front.

The bookcase in the family room is in birch plywood, each exposed joint carefully matched with grains, stained a subtle cheerful yellow, with partial shutters in solid teak frames with rattan. The partition has a pocket sliding door connecting to the formal living room and has been given a wallpaper finish.
