Neev is congenially designed keeping in reference the client’s requirement for a multifunctional workspace and a fabric showcasing area. The space is to be designed in a way that it creates an urbane and contemporary identity.

Located on the 7th floor of a commercial high rise in a corporate neighborhood in Powai-Mumbai, the studio is bestowed with panoramic views of the picturesque surroundings. The spaces foresee both public and private activities, connected yet separated to allow the calm and chaos to co-exist.

From the Indian delicacies to the colorful ‘bazaars’, everything about the streets is just as pious to customers as are the beads of rosary to a monk. In spite of the upcoming supermarkets and mall culture, the love for Indian fabric streets has not faded; nor with the designers neither with the customers. The idea and concept were to recreate the street experience in our project for this fabric studio.

Indian Culture is a palette of colorful experiences. The subtle material palette offered, allows the fabric displayed to take over the essence of the space. Glimpses that a person can experience leaves a pleasant and permanent impression on the mind. The narrow lane leads to larger working spaces. To feel the essence of a chaotic and densely occupied market street the central alley is designed to ultimately open up into a larger working area.

The free-flowing passageway is a placid abstraction of the traditional market street which provides glimpses of spaces through a central passage. The alley partition design offers a balance of visual connectivity and privacy which metaphorically represents various aspects of traditional bazaars. The glass partition is sandwiched between wooden mullions. The choice and detailing of the partition were additionally an endeavor to enhance the gimmick of light and shadow. The organic pattern Kota flooring represents the traditional cobbled street pavers and the open services add up to the chaos and reference of a street. The different elements and materiality are an analogical representation of Traditional Indian bazaars. The terms purity, essence and history encapsulate the core concept of this studio design. Natural finish veneer partitions are paired with natural stone flooring to add a sense of dimension to the space. The furniture and fixtures are detailed to achieve the ethos of the envisioned space.
