A small lot dictated multiple usage of spaces. The car park becomes the kids play area during the day. The court volume at the entrance binds the whole house visually. This space that connects the earth and sky is also a space for vertical movement of men and material. It opens up multiple levels that allows interior spaces to access the view to the play area and the green street across, according a visual and physical connection with the neighbourhood.

The central circulation spine and courtyard allows the building's innards to interact with its outside, creating a self-referenceable space! Pulleys placed at two terrace levels allow material to be moved up and down this shaft, mitigating the need for wider stairs while according a sense of autonomy to the different levels. A steel roof structure mitigates the heat while adding another space for gathering with views across the city establishing a more abstract connection with the urban mass.

Structurally, the rear of the building which houses the private areas, is a solid RCC frame. This cradles a lighter steel framed structure towards the front, opening up the ground at the street level. The public areas are arranged in a split stack, allowing areas to be accessed at half floor intervals with a visual connection across the stair volume and the courtyard that form the core of the building.

A screen wall to the street towards the south accords’ privacy, while allowing the movement of breeze and opening up a view to the green outside from the master bedroom. The central volumes of the stair and court allow the building to breathe easily while allowing the outside to be seen from within. A light roof with a terrace garden forms the culmination of the section, reversing the location of the garden!
