This architectural renovation and interior design project involved the complete transformation of an aging residence where the clients had lived for several years. Initially, the intention was to update only certain areas of the house. However, after in-depth discussions and the presentation of our vision, the clients were convinced to embark on a comprehensive renovation of the entire property.

The primary challenge stemmed from the house’s location in a narrow street, bordered on three sides by neighboring buildings, which resulted in limited natural light throughout the space. This constraint required a creative and thoughtful approach to design—one that would enhance the living experience while still respecting the home’s existing context.

To address the lack of sunlight, they proposed the demolition of the central section of the house, including the existing staircase, to introduce an open courtyard. This newly created space was topped with a sleek skylight, allowing natural light to flood the core of the house. The redesign also featured a streamlined, minimalist metal staircase that complemented both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the space.

The layout was carefully reimagined to ensure a smooth flow between the different zones of the house, while maintaining privacy where necessary. The goal was to create an open, airy environment that integrated seamlessly with the home's functional needs, providing a balance of openness and intimacy.

The clients envisioned a modern, minimalist interior design, and we embraced this concept by utilizing a varied range of grey tones as the primary color palette. Accents of color were introduced strategically to break the monotony and inject vibrancy into the space. The interior design was meticulously crafted to ensure a cohesive visual language that resonated throughout the house, from the living areas to the private spaces.

Throughout the fifteen-month renovation process, numerous challenges typical of working with an older structure arose. Many of the decisions had to be made on-site, requiring a flexible and adaptive approach. Fortunately, the clients were highly receptive to our ideas, and their collaborative spirit played a crucial role in overcoming obstacles, ultimately leading to the success of the project.
