Spatial Planning of the building is more important as it gives experience to the person who lives there. Living area has been made large to experience and relax with the calm and peaceful views of the misty lake. Ooty is a place where we enjoy natural views of the dense mountains and experience cold weather. Windows were made large not to disturb the views and it also helps in bringing in the natural light avoiding the artificial lights into the spaces. This helps in connecting with the nature from inside the space. The walls were made pale intentionally to make the natural green mountain views overtake from inside the space. Dining and living have been planned together to create a connection with the nature avoiding too many walls. Furnitures are pastel in colour to feel the space light. Minimal lighting is done to create a warmth in each space. Contemporary interiors are done to feel the space elegant and luxury.

As people are used to the building since 80s, we wanted to attract by giving a new element and look to the structure. In Ooty People use stone as their local material in most of their homes, Stone works are done at the facade to create local context of the area. Ooty is more prone to heavy rainfall. Considering that fact, surrounded sunshades are done to avoid rainwater from entering the spaces. Local tropical plantations are done around the building to connect with the nature. Stone paving are done at the entrance as it was the locally available material there and to seamlessly blend with the beautiful, context, Climate and local building typologies. Colour pallet in the exterior is monotony to blend with the natural context. Blending with the local context and nature was the key to design the beautiful spaces inside this building.
The renovation of the Shah’s Apartment employed Advanced engineering techniques and practices to address the extensive damage. The building’s original façade has been meticulously restored. This blend of old and new ensures that the Samara homes will continue to serve our community for generations to come.
