The recurring phenomenon of stress in the present times entails the creation of a calming environment within the private confines of our homes, besides the usual wellness retreats. Bearing this in mind, the interiors of this Chennai-based apartment is rooted in the philosophy of Healing Design, as solicited by the client. As is suggestive from the abode’s name, wood-one of the earthiest materials, rules the interior spaces in various forms, hues and finishes, creating a warm yet luxurious aesthetic, while also promoting holistic well-being with its eco-friendly, insulation and acoustic properties. A conscious emphasis on details was maintained at all levels -from ensuring maximum exposure to natural sunlight, optimizing functionality through multi-utility furniture pieces, to incorporation of spiritual elements like lotus and meditation mudras sourced from local artisans, thereby framing a sanctuary for the occupants.

This 3BHK apartment in a High Rise is located at Chennai. The main door Entrance is facing south. The East side (Living room window) have a city view and West side looks inside the center court of apartment. The North side, looks into another block of apartment leaving a single window in Young couple’s Bed Room used for cozy seating or drinking a cup of coffee.

In accordance to our client’s requisites, our endeavor was to devise a soothing abode that serves as a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and Bustle of the metropolitan city-Chennai. A considerable amount of time and energy was devoted towards the research and development stage Of the interior design in correspondence to Healing Design principles, a concept which has rightfully garnered significance in the recent times, Nevertheless remains untapped. Our team physically manifested the theoretical principles through practical application of healing elements  into the home’s interior spaces, albeit with an eco-friendly and low-cost modus operandi.

For the case, the dominant use of the naturally appealing wood veneers, abundant admission of natural light and sprinkles of real foliage (biophilia) across the whole residence establishes a mind-full connection between the users and the nature by governing their biological rhythms and hormones, thereby having a therapeutic effect on their health. The assertive employment of soothing neutral and pastel hues accounts for upliftment of the senses, along with welcome Doses of bright colors for breathing cheeriness into the spaces. Furthermore, we went a step ahead to ensure our clients’ well-being by opting for user friendly and sustainable finishes such as Low-VOC paints and PU Melamine polish which enhance the indoor air quality.

With our solution-oriented approach, we efficaciously utilized the available space through conscious spatial planning and maneuvering multi-utility Furniture pieces to create a clutter free home with sufficient storage space. Hence, a minimalist and organized interior design was achieved which remains easy on the residents’ eyes, instilling a sense of peace and comfort in their minds. Additionally, in conjunction with our firm’s ideology of synergizing art with architecture, we collaborated with the local artisans to imbue hand-crafted floral elements on the walls of the living room, dining space and temple area. Their marriage with the modern salving interiors altogether imparted a distinctive character to the Home.
