Located in Vesu, one of most the bustling suburbs of Surat is a home personifying the confluence of all elements luxurious. The interior design and planning of the space are done by BDesign24, spearheaded by Bheru Jangid. The client’s brief was to create a modern yet elegant abode for his family and himself, also paying homage to his South Indian descent.

Furnished in polished white & black Michel Angelo marble and sleek golden hardware; the color palette of the entrance is reminiscent of the interiors of Indian palaces. On entering the apartment, the obvious highlight is the temple room. A side wall shows Nandi, against a powder blue backdrop, magnifying the feel of a South Indian temple. A gush of wind through the room would cause the tinkling of golden bells placed in the niches of the wall frame, truly creating a meditative prayer space.

The primary sitting space is amply daylit and has a muted color palette of grey and beige, against white. As for the rest of the rooms, Michel Angelo marble is used in abundance to create a refined look. The living space has an eclectic mix of unique pieces of furniture, works of art, and light fixtures. For example, brushed golden plates atop solid black stands are used as center tables. The dining set has a polished marble table top with tweed-textured fabric upholstery for the chairs; the hard and soft textures are skillfully chosen to sustain each other’s visual effect. The kitchen is entirely done in various shades of grey; dark and light shades maintaining the balance with the polished speckled marble top. The other spaces include a European-style reading room; painted in a deep forest green shade, to create a serene reading space. The furniture is sparse but regal in design, adding to the intellectual atmosphere of the space.

The home boasts four bedrooms, each having inherent styling. The master bedroom uses warm colors to amplify the texture of the Michel Angelo marble used on the headboard wall, while the son’s bedroom uses a cool color palette, carefully balanced with black & gold. The headboard wall is accentuated using textures provided by Colortek, creating a smoky effect, as a reflection of sea waves. The guest bedroom uses hues of beige and brown, against a tropical-style wallpaper on the headboard wall.

The main highlight of the design project, showcasing the creative prowess of the architects is the landscaped terrace garden. It has a cozy gazebo with a transparent roof and yet again, the South Indian descent of the client is given attention with four wood-worked pillars supporting the roof. A low curving wall supporting a sitting bench stands out against the grey of the parapet wall and the greenery.
