Workplace Reimagined| A Fresh Take on IT Office Design in Pune| The Orange Box

Situated in Pune, India, this Information Technology office reflects a dynamic fusion of functionality, innovation, and contemporary design. Conceptualized and executed by The Orange Box, a Pune-based interior design and architecture firm, the project showcases a thoughtful approach to creating a workspace that inspires productivity and collaboration. With a focus on spatial efficiency, modern aesthetics, and employee well-being, the design seamlessly integrates technology with comfort, offering an environment that supports the evolving needs of today’s IT professionals.

The client, an Information Technology firm based in Pune, required a workspace that could accommodate a growing team while fostering collaboration, innovation, and employee engagement. The challenge was to design an environment that balanced functionality with aesthetics a space that reflects the company’s forward-thinking culture and technological identity.

The existing site presented spatial constraints, demanding an efficient layout and strategic use of materials, colour, and lighting to create a sense of openness and comfort. The design also needed to support diverse work modes from focused individual tasks to team brainstorming sessions while ensuring acoustic privacy, ergonomic comfort, and seamless integration of digital infrastructure.

The goal was to transform the office into a vibrant, flexible, and future-ready workspace that enhances productivity and well-being, embodying the innovative spirit of Pune’s IT landscape.

Our design solution focused on transforming the workspace into a bright, inviting, and efficient environment that enhances both productivity and comfort. To overcome the challenge of limited natural light, glass partitions and reflective surfaces were strategically placed to maximize brightness and openness, creating a spacious and energizing atmosphere. Planters integrated into storage cabinets along the passage add a refreshing touch of greenery, softening the overall look and making the environment more pleasant for employees. A bright blue wallpaper framed by three work cabins serves as a vibrant focal point, bringing character and liveliness to the space. Together, these elements of colour, light, and greenery create a balanced and contemporary workspace that supports focus, collaboration, and creativity.

The entrance of the office features light colours and warm wooden textures that softly reflect natural light, creating a welcoming and functional entry space. From this point, visitors get a glimpse into the main office area, which is thoughtfully partitioned by storage cabinets that maintain openness while defining distinct zones.

The passage is located between the staff workspace and the three cabins, serving as a connector from the reception area to the director’s cabin. On one side, storage cabinets accented with wooden laminates and integrated planters add warmth and a touch of greenery to the corridor. On the opposite side, a bright blue wallpaper framed by the three glass cabins creates a striking visual contrast, making this transitional space both vibrant and functional.

The staff work area, partitioned by the planter-integrated storage units, is situated along the external edge of the office, allowing ample daylight to flood the workspace. The flooring transitions to a blue carpet, enhancing the aesthetics while functionally demarcating the work zone and aiding in acoustic comfort by reducing ambient noise.

The three work cabins are located along the inner edge of the site and are partitioned with glass to maintain visual openness. The inner walls of these cabins feature a bright blue wallpaper that adds a lively accent to the workspace. When viewed from the exterior, this bold colour is framed by the glass partitions, creating a striking visual composition within the office interior.

The conference room, designed to accommodate 8–10 people, continues the material palette of blue carpeting and warm wooden textures, creating a cohesive aesthetic with the rest of the office. Positioned along the external façade, the space benefits from abundant natural light, which can be easily controlled using blinds to ensure comfort during meetings and presentations.

The director’s cabin, also located along the external face of the site, receives ample natural light that can be easily controlled as needed. Soft colors and warm materials are used throughout the space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere while maintaining a sense of professionalism and functionality.
