High above the bustle of North Bangalore, on the 32nd floor of Karle Zenith, lies a home that feels as serene as it is striking. This 4BHK apartment is more than just a residence — it’s an experience, suspended between sky and city, designed to celebrate nature and identity in equal measure. With panoramic views of the lake and skyline as its constant backdrop, the home was envisioned as a retreat that balances modern living with a rooted, soulful aesthetic.

The clients’ brief was clear: a modern-contemporary home that holds space for subtle Indian roots. The design draws inspiration from the four elements — water, light, air, and earth — weaving them into everyday life. The northern façade, lined with expansive balconies and full-height openings, became the soul of the layout. By maximizing natural light, cross-ventilation, and visual openness, the design blurs the boundaries between the indoors and the breathtaking outdoors, allowing the home to breathe with the landscape.

A restrained, earthy palette sets the tone — warm natural stones, rich veneers, and textured finishes form a backdrop that feels both timeless and grounding. Monochrome accents lend a modern edge, while indoor plants and green walls inject freshness, softening the overall mood. Each space is curated to exude calm, balance, and an understated elegance, making the home feel both expansive and deeply personal.

Perhaps the most heartfelt corner of the house, the pooja room was designed as a contemporary sanctum. The clients, ardent devotees of Lord Venkateshwara, wished for a space that felt both sacred and special. A custom niche was created with a lush green backdrop, setting the stage for the resplendent gold idol. The result is a space that feels surreal — almost meditative — and the emotional response of the client, who was moved to tears at the reveal, remains one of the most cherished moments of the project.

The open layout encourages flow and interaction, with furniture carefully placed to frame views and create pockets of conversation. Each bedroom is designed as a distinct yet cohesive experience.

The showstopper here is the soaring 20-foot sandstone accent wall, a piece of art that anchors the upholstered bed and sets the tone for the room’s quiet drama. A generously planned walk-in closet for him and her ensures functionality is as thoughtful as aesthetics. Warm neutrals, tactile textures, and soft fabrics make the space feel like a private retreat — luxurious, but never loud.

Breaking away from the home’s soft, earthy palette, this teenage haven embraces a moody monochrome theme with dark grey flooring, a sleek tan leather bed, and wardrobe shutters crafted from actual denim fabric — a detail that adds a casual, edgy personality. A cosy reading nook softens the space, making it as inviting as it is bold.
