Rooted in the Sanskrit word for oneness or unity, Ekatva embodies the home’s central design philosophy—a pursuit of harmony between architecture, nature, and human experience. The recurring circular motif anchors this idea, symbolizing completeness, infinity, and the seamless interconnectedness of life. An earthy material palette and an intentional engagement with natural vistas cultivate a sense of grounding, while the architecture blurs the threshold between indoors and outdoors. More than a dwelling, Ekatva becomes a sanctuary of balance and belonging, where spatial composition and sensory experience converge to nurture both the spirit and the senses.

The design is guided by a deep respect for the site’s natural context, framing expansive views of the dense greenery that defines the rear of the property. The circular motif is subtly woven into the architectural language—manifesting in fenestration, spatial planning, and detail—to express unity and continuity across scales.

In response to the clients’ preference for simplicity and functionality, the architecture favours restraint over ornamentation. A warm, tactile material palette—anchored in brick, wood, and natural textures—allows the home to dissolve into its landscape. Every gesture is deliberate: form serves both aesthetic and purpose, creating a dwelling that feels timeless, honest, and profoundly connected to its environment.

The front elevation projects a distinct architectural identity while remaining deeply attuned to its natural surroundings. A stepped massing strategy creates a cascading profile that nestles gracefully into the verdant backdrop. The composition of geometric cuboid volumes is softened through circular interventions—most notably in the brick Jaali opening, circular cutouts, and recessed niches—that punctuate the facade with rhythm and lightness. These gestures temper the rigidity of form and echo the project’s overarching theme of unity and continuity.

A palette of exposed brick and concrete-texture finishes grounds the architecture in earthiness, while fine detailing ensures that the facade remains both striking and approachable. The result is an exterior that communicates strength through simplicity—dynamic in form yet rooted in context.

The foyer acts as a transitional threshold, setting the tone for the spatial narrative that unfolds beyond. Defined by textured brick cladding and an arresting circular window, the entry frames the landscape as a living artwork. The interplay of natural light and shadow amplifies the material richness, establishing a strong visual connection to the outdoors.

From this point, the home unfolds intuitively—the formal living area extending to one side, and the dining and functional spaces to the other. A staircase integrates seamlessly into the composition, reinforcing the foyer’s identity as the central anchor of the home’s spatial flow.

Located in the northeast corner, the living room opens effortlessly into a shaded patio, drawing the surrounding greenery into the interior. Adjacent to it, a compact pooja room is tucked neatly within the plan, maintaining visual continuity while offering a quiet space for reflection. A custom-designed L-shaped sofa forms the heart of the room, complemented by tailored single-seaters and a bespoke TV unit set against a patterned brick wall. This element echoes the home’s external materiality, fostering cohesion across spaces.

While the base palette remains neutral and earthy, accents of colour and texture—introduced through textiles, artwork, and soft furnishings—infuse the interior with warmth and vibrancy. These interventions enliven the restrained architectural shell without compromising its calm, grounded aesthetic.

The double-height dining area forms the volumetric core of the residence. Flooded with daylight and cross-ventilation, it amplifies the experience of openness and continuity. The ceiling, articulated with brick jack arches, lends the space depth and character, transforming structural expression into a sculptural feature.

Materially and spatially, the dining space bridges the home’s two levels—visually connecting with the upper floor while offering direct access to the kitchen, powder room, and guest suite. As both a functional hub and a spatial focal point, it embodies the home’s design ethos: architecture that is at once grounded and transcendent.

Positioned in the southeast corner to welcome gentle morning light, the kitchen is defined by its clarity and efficiency. Clean lines, unobtrusive cabinetry, and a restrained palette underscore a minimalist sensibility. A playful acrylic backsplash introduces contrast and tactility, subtly offsetting the otherwise understated finishes.

Every element—from layout to lighting—is resolved for usability and comfort, reflecting the project’s larger narrative of quiet modernity rooted in simplicity.

The corridor embodies the home’s guiding philosophy—where natural materials, organic forms, and seamless transitions shape the architectural experience. Brick detailing within the jack arch roof adds depth and craftsmanship, while a circular handrail and sculpted niche infuse the space with a tactile, artistic sensibility. At the double-height volume, a fixed glass window frames canopy-level views of the trees, allowing shifting light and shadows to animate the walls throughout the day. The result is a passageway that feels grounded yet weightless, transforming circulation into a moment of quiet engagement with light, texture, and nature.

The staircase becomes a sculptural feature within the home—its wooden treads, gracefully curved handrail, and slender vertical balusters creating a rhythmic interplay of form and material. The use of natural wood introduces warmth and tactility, while the elegant curvature lends fluidity and movement to the spatial experience.

In contrast, the vertical balusters emphasize lightness and structure, balancing grace with geometry. At the landing, the stairway opens to a framed view of the garden, allowing movement through the space to become both functional and experiential.

This play of light and shadow animates the space through the day, transforming it into an ever-changing canvas that celebrates both functionality and artistry.
