A contemporary salon in Cochin designed to embody minimal luxury through refined detailing, tactile materials, and soft spatial geometry, Exxude – Styling Lounge reimagines the idea of everyday indulgence within a compact urban footprint.
The client’s brief emphasized “minimal luxury” — an elegant, timeless space where material quality and composition take precedence over excess. With limited area available, the design relies on meticulous planning and fluid visual connections to establish a sense of openness. The entrance itself becomes the defining gesture — a warm and inviting threshold that hints at the crafted elegance within.
Arched openings and curved edges create a rhythmic spatial sequence, gently guiding movement through the reception, waiting, and styling zones. A subdued color palette of beige, blush, and sage is grounded by bold patterned tiles, balancing calmness with character. The interplay of light and texture animates the interiors — the soft glow of indirect lighting highlights the textured paint finishes, terrazzo surfaces, and custom joinery details, creating depth and intimacy.
Materiality anchors the design narrative. The use of textured paint, designer tiles, and terrazzo not only adds visual richness but also ensures durability suited to the salon’s daily functions. Subtle design gestures — from integrated mirrors and furniture detailing to the curated display niches — express craftsmanship within constraint.
Despite spatial limitations, Exxude – Styling Lounge achieves a cohesive environment that feels both luxurious and personal. Every detail contributes to a seamless experience, fulfilling the client’s aspiration for a space that exudes understated sophistication and offers a calm retreat in the heart of the city.
