House of Hues- Crafting connection within a dialogue of voids and colors

How often do you step into a vibrant place and, before noticing colors, you end up sensing calm? House of Hues makes that happen. The air feels gentler, the light brighter and the subtle rhythm between walls and voids makes it a perfect place to unwind. Designed by Kaksh Architects for a family of five, this Nanded home opens a gateway to a space filled with color and light. The architects Jayprakash Jangid and Preeti Jangid crafted a design that looks inward, with courtyards, skylights and colors blending to materialize into a house that epitomizes comfort.

The entrance commands attention with a ten-foot veneered door leading to the foyer. The foyer is thoughtfully designed to be a few inches below the main level, so the dust stays out. A granite bench welcomes one with shoe storage beneath it, offering a view of the courtyard beyond. The arrival sequence expands the design intent- clean lines, soft tones and natural transitions.

Glowing with shades of terracotta, the living room is balanced by the sheen of veneered ceiling panels. The large sectional sofa grounds the space in beige and tan, while burnt orange and teal pop in accent chairs adding vibrancy. Metal arches coated in black, subtly divide the room without separating it from the rest of the house. Natural light, flowing in from both the temple and narrow windows, casts light on textures. Every piece of furniture, from the tiledtop coffee tables to the built-in console was crafted on site, ensuring unity in proportion and tone.

With volume and light contributing together, the living space leads to the dining and staircase- the core of everyday life. A double-height void anchors a 20-foot Krishna Leela painting, painted in earthy tones.

The black-granite steps along with being a mode of circulation, also act as a gathering space reminiscent of the good old otta. The dining table, sculpted from marble with curved corners, anchors the space with elegance. Linked visually to the children’s rooms, the dining acts as a core connecting point.

The kitchen blends functionality and refinement with its soft grey-blue acrylic shutters while the black-granite countertops define the working area. A slim horizontal window lets in the morning light without compromising privacy. A compact breakfast counter bridges the kitchen and dining area, making everyday life both social and efficient. The kitchen symbolizes storage efficiency and visual serenity.

Clad in veneer, the temple serves as the soul of House of Hues. Opening to a small indoor garden finished in black granite, the space feels lively with the brass lamps resting beside the planters. Above, a skylight filters daylight through a handcrafted screen, scattering patterns that dance across the grass each morning. The temple connects visually to both levels of the abode, allowing divine energy to connect with the family throughout the house.

On the first level, the master bedroom steeped in calm sophistication defines proportion and material authenticity. The bed in walnut laminate carries a curved edge, while the aqua-blue upholstered headboard softens the geometry. While the fabrics in the hues of grey, beige and ivory evoke comfort, a built-in window bench manifests as storage, overlooking greenery. Subtle pendant lights, warm timber finishes and the tactile comfort of matte tiles keep the cosiness of the space intact.

Kaksh Architects created a room that is a study in thoughtfulness through the elder son’s bedroom in House of Hues. In this space of quiet study and reflection, the color scheme deepens into muted teal and beige, creating a smooth contrast. The study area visually opens into the dining area. A black powder-coated SS partition differentiates the study corner from the sleeping area, keeping the room open yet defined. Natural light filters in through a window that overlooks the double-height dining below, curating a visual dialogue with the rest of the house. Soft wallpaper and tailored upholstery serve as a continuation of the home’s serene language.

Playful in its essence, the younger son’s room communicates in the language of modern youth. A palette of blue and grey sets a fresh tone, balanced by warm wooden bands along the furniture. This room provides comfort without clutter with the upholstered bed and custom seating near the window. The balcony, overlooking the garden and the double-height dining below, serves as a bridge between the spiritual hearts of the home- a place to read, pause, or simply bask in the bright morning light. Every element, from the layout to the colors, creates a balance between liveliness and tranquillity.

House of Hues is a quiet study in design that feels human and serves humans. Every surface, texture and opening is a quiet intention- the ceiling’s curve, the grain of veneer, the stone surfaces and the rhythm of the screen. The house balances privacy and togetherness by celebrating both old values and evolving time. Ar. Jayprakash Jangid and Ar. Preeti Jangid have crafted not just a house, but a sanctuary wherein color ignites emotions, light grants memories and textures feel human. Within these 4800 square feet, design ceases to be purely physical, it bestows feeling.
