Embarking on the journey to create a dream home for a dynamic couple — a professor and a travel enthusiast — Red House is more than bricks and mortar; it's an artful fusion of unique style and sustainable living.

Their clients, a group of working professionals with a keen passion for unique, earthy aesthetics, sought to create their dream home on a limited budget. The challenge was to design a living space that not only reflected their distinct taste but also emphasized energy efficiency and climate responsiveness. Situated on a compact 1,800 sqft east-facing plot, the project demanded innovative design solutions to maximize the use of space while incorporating sustainable practices. The goal was to blend functionality with style, crafting a home that is both environmentally conscious and a true reflection of the clients' vision.

A 1BHK on the ground floor and a cozy guest 1BHK on the first, strategically zoned for functionality. An external circular staircase, doubling as a design statement, opens into a captivating foyer area with a thoughtfully semi-opened wall for privacy. Brick jail on the staircase wall creates a stunning play of light, ensuring a unique visual experience. Creepers around the foyer not only enhance aesthetics but also bring life to the surroundings, ensuring a warm welcome.

First-class brick for the arresting brick jail, Porotherm blocks for walls radiating heat, and a strategic use of glass blocks for natural lighting. A central courtyard, an oasis within, keeps the house cool in Chennai's climate while providing a serene setting.

An open-plan living area with a semi-circular design for an expansive feel. A recessed living area with strategically placed niches, basking in sunlight, becomes the perfect home for an antique collection. The central courtyard not only ushers in light but also hosts a tranquil pooja space and a soothing waterfall.
