Nestled in the industrial core of Vadodara, Sumit Packaging is a leading manufacturer of corrugated packaging solutions. The client’s primary requirement was to allocate the majority of the floor space to manufacturing operations while also ensuring a spacious and comfortable office environment. They emphasized the need for interiors with a neutral color palette and abundant natural light, while keeping the overall upkeep to a minimum. Taking ahead client’s requirements, the final output is the balance between industrial efficiency with aesthetic appeal offering a blend of functionality and modern design. 

Set on a 10,000 sq.ft. plot area, the rectangular building is strategically oriented with its shorter side facing east and the longer side stretching north making the most of natural light and minimizing heat gain. The total built-up area spans approximately 15,000 square feet. The structure is divided into two distinct areas: the office space at the front and the production area at the rear. These volumes are seamlessly connected through a central passage which houses a staircase leading to the upper floors. The production area expands across three levels (Ground + 2 floors), while the office area spans two levels (Ground + 1 floor). 

The office entrance, located on the ground floor’s east side, leads directly into a reception area. This space serves as a transition point dividing the office into two zones: the staff office on the north and the director’s cabin on the south. A staircase just behind the staff area leads to the first-floor conference room which is centrally placed above the reception and flanked by two director’s cabins on either side. A linear balcony stretches along the east-facing facade offers natural ventilation and outdoor views creating a bright and inviting workspace. Full-height glass windows along the east facade flood the office with natural light throughout the day, reducing energy consumption and fostering a vibrant atmosphere. The second floor offers a terrace space designed for dining or informal gatherings. This outdoor area provides employees with a relaxed space to unwind, fostering a sense of community and relaxation within the industrial setting.

The east-facing facade serves as the architectural highlight of the building, featuring a striking frame that captures attention. Its design is enhanced by full-height glazing which floods the interior with natural light. Projecting rectangular masses incorporate integrated planters, introducing greenery that softens the building's industrial aesthetic and enriches the work environment with a touch of nature.

The office interiors are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist and clean aesthetic. White-painted walls and full-height glass partitions make the office feel spacious, airy, and connected. The office furniture features a modern blend of materials, including white laminated storage units, teak wood-finished laminated desks, grey solid surface countertops, and elegant grey terrazzo floor tiles. This neutral color palette, combined with the large windows ensures that the office remains clutter-free, elegant, and visually expansive.
