The Arched Office in Ahmedabad is a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, designed by Terra Firma Architects. This 4,000 sq ft workspace on the 13th floor of a commercial building is a testament to thoughtful design, tailored for a family of chartered accountants.

The office is divided into three zones: public, interactive, and core. The public area, marked by a sleek reception desk and a comfortable sofa, serves as a welcoming entrance. The waiting area is designed for minimal natural light, creating a calm and uncluttered space for temporary use.

Moving deeper into the office, the interactive zone includes meeting and conference rooms. Glass partitions separate these spaces, allowing natural light to filter through and maintaining an open, connected feel. This area is designed to facilitate both formal and informal interactions, serving as a bridge between the public and core zones.

The core zone houses the employee and client workspaces, prioritized for natural light from the south and west. These workspaces are designed to be both functional and inspiring, with a focus on creating a comfortable and productive environment. The workspaces are arranged to remain visually connected, fostering collaboration and communication among team members.

The material palette plays a crucial role in defining the character of the office. The exposed concrete ceiling and floors are left in their raw state, emphasizing the industrial aesthetic. This choice not only adds a touch of authenticity but also provides a durable and low-maintenance surface. The brick walls, inspired by the concrete, add warmth and texture to the space. The bricks are arranged in an extruded pattern, creating a visually interesting and tactile surface.

The polished concrete floors are inlaid with marble chips, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication. The marble chips are laid in patterns that follow the shape of the arches, enhancing the expansiveness of the space. This flooring choice not only complements the raw finishes but also adds a sense of luxury to the overall design.

Mild steel is used extensively throughout the office, particularly in the form of arches, partitions, and furniture. The mild steel arches serve as entry points into the workspace, creating a sense of continuity and flow. Custom tables with mild steel legs and marble tops are used in both the employee and client workspaces, providing a balance of durability and elegance. The marble tops add a touch of warmth and richness, while the mild steel legs provide a modern and industrial contrast.

The lighting system is designed to enhance the industrial charm of the space. Circular disk lights and spotlights are suspended from the exposed ceiling, creating a cohesive and functional lighting solution. The lighting is arranged in a continuous grid of conduits, adding to the raw and natural feel of the office.

The employee area is an open-plan workspace, accommodating up to 36 people with flexibility. A central bay with stepped seating and mild steel arches serves as a collaborative hub. The stepped seating provides a space for informal gatherings and discussions, fostering a sense of community among employees.

Client workspaces are designed with privacy and comfort in mind. Custom tables with mild steel legs and marble tops, along with oak veneer-clad ceilings, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The oak veneer ceilings add warmth and acoustic comfort, differentiating these spaces from the rest of the office.

The conference room is equipped with a raw wood countertop supported by custom sleek mild steel legs. Waffle ceilings and fabric wall panels provide acoustic treatment, ensuring a productive and comfortable environment for long meetings. The waiting and reception area features marble chips in the flooring, mimicking a carpet, while the brick wall has an extruded brick pattern. The waiting area offers a peek into the conference space through an arch-shaped window, adding a touch of intrigue.

Throughout the office, subtle touches of art, bookshelves, and curated decor elevate the visual narrative. Each element is carefully placed to enrich the atmosphere, contributing to a workspace that is as inspiring as it is functional. The Arched Office is a place where every detail enhances the daily experience, proving that functional spaces can be profoundly beautiful.
