A house truly transforms into a home when it reflects the personalities and needs of the people living in it. It's about creating a space where everyone feels comfortable, safe, and connected—a place where memories are made and cherished. Whether it's through personal touches, thoughtful design, or shared experiences, the sense of belonging is what truly makes a house feel like home.

'THE CORNER HOUSE' is a distinctive project for a special client who has shown immense support for Bodhi in numerous ways. The primary design guideline for 'The Corner House' was to make the most of the site's stunning views while ensuring a balanced level of privacy.

The project features a striking contrast between the various shades of grey and the inviting warmth of Tipwood, which serves as the highlight of the facade. The interplay of light and shadow made by the Tipwood fins creates a dramatic effect at the house's entrance, offering a warm welcome. There are two access points: one is a series of steps leading to the living areas, while the other is a ramp that leads to a multipurpose room and the lift lobby. The nighttime view of the house evokes both curiosity and drama simultaneously.

The humongous sliding door and the vertical slits fill the double height interior space with daylight

The double-height family living area links the first and second floors, facilitating vertical communication between the levels. Vertical connectivity in a residential building aids in regulating spatial flow and natural light. It also enhances visual connections and communication, thereby improving both the aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency of the home.

The main door leads into a cozy formal living area featuring a large mirror backdrop that reflects the stunning greenery outside. The stucco-finished walls, wooden ceiling detailing, and board-and-batten accents combine to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The space seamlessly transitions from the formal living area into the expansive double-height family living room. This open-flow design enhances the sense of connectivity and openness between the two areas. A standout feature of this family living space is a balcony that offers a stunning north-facing view. The balcony not only adds a touch of elegance but also provides an outdoor retreat where residents can enjoy the serene surroundings and natural light, further enhancing the overall ambiance and functionality of the area.

The expanded opening invites natural lighting and ventilation

The family living area seamlessly connects to an open kitchen, which features a convenient small dining island for casual meals and gatherings. This design facilitates easy interaction between the cooking and living spaces, making it ideal for both everyday living and entertaining. Tucked discreetly behind the open kitchen is a utility kitchen, where the bulk of meal preparation takes place. This secondary kitchen is designed to be functional and efficient, allowing for more intensive cooking tasks without disrupting the open, social atmosphere of the main kitchen and family living area.

In this project, the staircase design is a key element, just like in any home. To keep the staircase visually interesting, different types of railings are used in different sections of the staircase. This variety in railings helps to break up the monotony and adds character to the design.

A cozy study nook occupies the space between the stairs on the second floor. The green finish on the furniture adds a refreshing and calming touch, creating an inviting atmosphere that's perfect for concentration. Behind the study space, there’s a more private and cozy family living that opens up to a balcony that overlooks the expansive view to the North. Deep blue furnishings, wooden finish wall paneling and wooden finish tiles adorn the space here.

The daughter's room transmits a calm tone with a subtle print on the headboard that elevates the feminine spirit

The daughter of the house had a specific vision for her bedroom to incorporate a circular headboard for her bed, which aligns with the circular detail of the filler slab in the ceiling. This design choice creates a cohesive look, tying together the architectural features of the room with the furniture.

Additionally, the geometric patterns on the cabinets and the wall complement the circular headboard and floral elements. The geometric designs provide a modern and structured contrast to the softness of the florals and the curves of the headboard.

The cozy daughter_s room has been styled with a sophisticated colour palette and the paintings on the wall gear up the savor of the overall workstation area

The cohesion of the wooden headboard from the lower level to the mezzanine creates panoramic visual experiences and merge the spaces seamlessly

The son’s bedroom features wooden paneling that continues into the study area on the mezzanine level, creating an interesting visual continuity in design. The matching wooden finish flooring and deep blue blinds in the study area, combined with the view, make it a very cozy space to work in.

The house features stark contrasts between the white flooring and walls, the wooden flooring and wall paneling, and the deep colors used for furnishing. Combined with the openings that keep the interiors well-lit, a sense of lightness and comfort is created in this home.
