Ashirvaad, a home, nestled on the outskirts of Ahmadabad city. This house seeks to prioritize the use of natural light. The challenge was to harness the views from all the rooms and spaces given the condition. To make the optimum use of the site parameters, the volumes are derived in a linear format that compliments the elevation.
The house hence orients in such a way that the larger fenestrations are towards the north that is front of the house. The courtyard in east brings in soft light through the day on both the floors. In terms of morphological relationship, the house has longitude axis as passage on both floors- all the spaces are connected to it on both the sides makes it easily accessible.
This house has expansive interior corridors (which defines axis) on both the floors as well as double heights and skylights which allowed ample daylight into the house all day long. The afternoons and evening are cooler in summer due to courtyard and water bodies surrounded around the house on east and west directions.
The layout is unobtrusive and minimal throughout the house and the furniture design is high on comfort with the idea of minimalism and light furniture. Each bathroom in the house including the powder room has connection to a private courtyard which helps bring the landscape, natural light and ventilation into the house. The double height stairs and dining area makes it easy to connect the floors vertically. Few of the details like exposed designer 3d walls, clay pots for landscape, staircase details, Italian marble black mirror flooring, double height chandelier were essential accessories which helped us create a design concept of the house.
Architecture, interior and landscape is done by the firm Hitesh Mistry and Associates, thus is synchronized well with each other. This house is quaint 5-bedroom home for a city dwelling family. This house embraces the nature in all its forms and brings in ample amount of natural light thought out the day.
