Hiral Jobalia Studio’s work is aimed at being design and content-driven. The client, Atelier Sources Unlimited, was an old acquaintance of Ar. Hiral Jobalia and they were well known to each other since both are from the design field. In fact, the architect had designed the client’s other office two years earlier, and that led to this one being designed by him too.

The design brief was to keep it simple and muted as the focus was to be kept on the products: the furniture, lighting, accessories, wallcoverings (that the client imports and sells) were to be displayed with the same level of sophistication they convey. After the basic design brief, the client, who had immense faith in the architect’s vision, gave him a completely free hand to design the space.

Based on these inputs the architect decided on a monochromatic colour palette. The space was segregated to give a feel of walking through a home. The intent was to create a subtle design mark while optimizing the function of the space and following the client’s requirement.

This design concept translated into comfortable decor with neutral colours where the use of colour was primarily used to complement the products. The challenging part of the design was to incorporate these zones in a fluid manner and to simultaneously adhere to the strict guidelines laid down by the society where HVAC was concerned.

The intent was to primarily work on a display of two furniture brands, Giorgetti and Rimadesio and further complement it using a variety of decorative lights from Melogranoblu, Gabriel Scott, Davide Groppi and Contardi.

The space flow was designed following the concept of a home experience centre. Therefore the rectangular space, with bare four walls, was modulated to create a foyer at the entry point. A walnut lattice screen combined with woven clay cladding in terracotta pantone was installed in the informal living area to enhance the space and make for the perfect space divider.

This space was further segregated into a formal and living room with a visual connect to a dining area highlighted with the softly diffusing light rendered by a stunning Gabriel Scott creation, with its multifaceted smoked black prismatic glass floating in the air, speaking volumes about the grace and elegance of handcrafted Italian lighting.

The dining and living space led to the bedroom space which was smartly separated visually from it with fixed glass partitions and Rimadesio doors. Beyond this door was the bedroom with a walk-in closet that displays a customized wardrobe option for the challenging ‘C’ shaped walk-in wardrobe with Rimadesio solutions. The powder room and a lounge in this section justifies the products to be displayed too.

In the lounge area, the architect has used lighting from Coelux Lighting System Italy which reproduces and demonstrates the proprietary technology that uses LED lighting to simulate natural light, the sun and a beautiful blue sky. Wallcoverings from Wall&Deco have been used in the lounge area as well as the powder room to add the required dramatic visual effect to the space.
