Casa Opulence is a four storey bungalow inhabiting a family of five members; a well established business owner, his wife, two daughters and a younger son. Based on the client requirements, our approach was to design a modern luxurious home. The architecture style incorporated is such that it emphasizes on privacy and the interiors ensure a splendid experience.

The architectural layout segregates the floors into two major zones. The ground floor, first and third floor are areas comfortably accessible to guests through the lift. The second floor is solely dedicated to bedrooms for the family members. A minimalistic modern facade exhibits three rectangular forms stacked upon each other.

We’ve played with extrusions at a horizontal scale by using two materials that is, Italian marble and limestone. At the front facade, the ground floor extends out as parking space along with the first floor opening up to a landscape. With the balcony on the second floor front facade, we extruded its periphery connecting it to the floor below which further continues down as extruded
blocks of giant steps.

The ground floor truly creates an illusion of being underground in a basement. With a bar lounge, poker area, pool table area and a home theatre, this floor is mainly dedicated for a night of good times. This floor is solely dedicated for entertainment. “Through the ceiling design, lighting, sculptures on the wall and the painting we’ve attempted to create a subtle vibe of being in a bar”.

Housing an unusual and distinctive space planning, the first floor main entrance leads to the view of a long passage with segregated spaces on each side. For the semi formal drawing room, the design concept in a literal sense revolves around the word ‘twins’. “Through proportions we’ve created identical and non identical twins for major of the design elements in this space.

From the center tables to chairs, the console, floor lamp even extending to wall mounted lights designed such that they look mirror of each other and the same follows to the wall paneling.” In order to break this monotony and create a sense of visual balance, the center piece of the wall paneling is an abstract wall art made of bronze with veneer as its canvas.

The double height area surely brings forth a sense of awe and calmness in the same breath. The area cherishes its beauty to the optimum with its majestic wall that is cladded in italian marble, cut in CNC pattern to form a foliage. On the opposite end is the spiral staircase designed to complement the space and not create a visual barrier but rather act as a sculpted design element.

A circular seating space completes this grandeur space by providing users with a 360˚ view of this area. The four directions showcase a view to the CNC cladded wall, living room, staircase and balcony.

The living room elongates to accommodate a dining space. A visually difference can be observed between enclosed and open spaces. The open areas emphasize heavily on displaying modern luxury while the enclosed spaces such as the bedrooms are diluted to provide a sense of calmness while being in the comfort of home. Combination of the two delivers the best of both worlds.

Though the space is injected itself in monochrome, the design details intently catch every nuance of expressionism added through a touch of wood such as the paneling on the TV wall and bronze in the revolving dining table’s base. “The space planning for this floor is done such that each area can be privatized by enclosure of glass partitions and at the same time can be opened up to form an open space floor plan.”

The kitchen is seamlessly minimal. “We know that the kitchen can be one of the busiest and most used area in the house during the day. The priority was to ensure that users can perform kitchen activities to an optimum level and not cause any unnecessary hindrance”.

At the end of the passage is the guest bedroom. Subtle grey tones are incorporated in all the bedrooms. The italian marble flooring along with the elegant bed back wall paneling made of leather, mirror and bronze contrast with the sofa that is dyed in rustic pink. The collision of them completes to form an exquisite guest bedroom.

The second floor incorporates four bedrooms. A master suite, a son’s bedroom and a bedroom for each daughter. Each bedroom includes a balcony and a walk-in closet in the bathroom. The master bedroom has an additional wardrobe area aside from the walk-in closet as well as a storage room.

The son’s bedroom is essential and stands out by its wooden paneling. A simple play of geometric shapes forming an abstract pattern is further elevated with grooves, giving it an additional dimension. The bed style follows the same language. The daunting blue portrait adjacent to the bed builds a subtle ominous environment for a video game enthusiast.

The master bedroom encloses in wooden paneling from all sides leaving the bed back wall that forms layers wrapped in leather. The light color palette allows one to relax and unwind, leaving a sense of calmness.

For the third floor, lounge area majorly takes up the floor space. Leaving rest for a gym area extending and on the other end is a passage leading to the powder bathroom. Both gym and passage area extend out to terraces.

The lounge is an enclosed within glass partitions. Again here, the same concept follows for an enclosed space. The elements dwell in the hue of grey, allowing the natural surroundings and light to enter in. This space provides ample amount of daylight to soak in and sunsets to watch at evenings. The chain sculpture is a poetic depiction of this home, a four storey bungalow with a design concept linking each floor to one another.
