With the strong affinity towards the hometown and a nostalgic belongingness to their roots, the NRI clients Mrs. Tabu and Mr. Rajesh wanted to craft their own niche on 18 cents of land at the coastal town of Vadakara. The 3300 sq.ft. residence was also primarily for the client's parents to live their retirement life amidst the serene greenery of the context. The client wanted a modern residence with traces of traditional design language.
The main feature of the residence is its courtyard and the passage adjacent to it, which subtly segregates the formal living, dining and bedrooms. This let in a lot of ventilation and light, for which the patio from the dining also aids in. This is the most happening area of this home as the dining area extends into the patio and a spill out zone for family gatherings.
