ECGC (Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India) is a Government of India Corporation.  Government buildings in India have a stereotypical image of dull facades designed only to perform the function without any attention to the aesthetics.

The Project consists of a Commercial Office for 250-300 persons with a Residential facility for them. During the conceptualization phase, it was decided to break shackles and create not just a functional Commercial structure but also a timeless piece of art - a sculpture that redefines Government buildings - a symbol of not just modern architecture, but of rapidly developing Modern India. The project is a seamless flow from public to semi-public to ultimately private spaces.

Our aim was to come up with the design of an ultramodern iconic office structure with the perfect amalgamation of socio economic needs with futuristic approach. The project also creates an environment friendly, energy-efficient building. The Project has received a LEED - Platinum certification.

The Project is located in a busy, vibrant suburb. The 4.6 acre project site dotted with several old trees provided an opportunity for a design incorporating these natural flows. A public plaza, central courtyard and water bodies create spaces conducive for people to interact and socialize. Almost all offices enjoy direct sunlight from the atrium. This is cosmic energy flowing to increase efficiency and creating a perfect environment for business to flourish. The complex is decked with an ultra-modern club providing facilities like gymnasium, club house, indoor games ensuring a global identity and a full life. Intricately designed plazas flowing through the atrium along with the landscape on site create a visual connectivity. Lush landscape with the southwest wind flow creates a cool atmosphere. Water permeable landscape features reduce heating effect. The open plan enables air flow throughout the spaces.

The skylight feature provides natural light inside the offices and the intelligent facade glass reduces the internal heat gain. It offers the best office space that will globalize the corporate identity and take the business to soaring heights of success. Using a large span which isn’t punctuated with columns was of utmost importance to create a continuous stream of light throughout, and for this a span of 25 meters was used for the skylight.

1/3rd of the site adjoining the main approach road is reserved for the commercial sector ensuring frontage and connectivity. The internal 2/3rd portion of the site is currently being developed as a residential complex with a focus on privacy. Access has been provided from an adjacent street as well. The design caters a visual connectivity of green spaces flowing through the commercial to the residential sector. Ultimately, the project design brings value to the end users along with creating unique spatial experiences and an iconic structure, which will leave a mark in the field of architecture.
