From the living space, the view extends towards the pooja court, which becomes a peaceful extension of the reading room. Further inside, the courtyard opens into the dining space, from where the house continues towards the tulsi court and the backyard. These spaces are not merely gardens. They are part of everyday life.

The tulsi court holds its daily rituals. The backyard court accommodates washing, drying and other informal activities. Children move through them, conversations spill into them, and the changing seasons become visible within the house. The courtyards become the spaces that connect the rooms, bring in nature and hold everyday life together.
Reclaimed wood from an old house is given a new life through the columns, balustrades and details of the home, bringing a sense of familiarity and memory into the contemporary spaces. High ceilings and clerestory openings draw in soft daylight, while terraces, windows and open courts allow natural air to move through the house.

To the north, it opens towards a private garden. To the west, the view stretches towards the adjoining farmland. The landscape is not framed as a distant picture; it becomes part of the experience of living.
Throughout the day, the character of the house changes with the movement of the sun, the breeze, the shadows of trees and the activities of the family. The house begins with a simple white form and a gabled roof, sitting gently within the green landscape. The roof is not only a defining element of the house but also responds to the climate—collecting rain, allowing hot air to escape and bringing a sense of openness to the spaces below.

The House of Cascading Courtyards is therefore less about a singular architectural gesture and more about a sequence of everyday experiences—of light, shade, sky, garden, ritual and togetherness.
A home where courtyards bring nature in, where rooms flow into one another, and where architecture quietly becomes part of everyday life.
