Crafting an Indian contemporary house interior involves a delicate dance between preserving cultural identity and embracing modern aesthetics. Anarr Gunjaria Interiors and Modo Design come together to provide an eclectic mix of beauty with functionality. The house, spanning 5500 square feet in Ahmedabad, this three-generation house reflects the client’s lifestyle where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony, telling a story of timeless elegance and cultural pride. 

The interior color color palette is carefully chosen, drawing from India’s diverse landscapes and vibrant traditions. Earthy tones and bold hues coalesce to create a visually engaging enjoinment. Open floor plans and large windows connect the interior with the outdoors, fostering a sense of spaciousness and allowing natural light to illuminate the room. 

At entryway, wooden live edge bench against the exposed concrete wall, Jaipur rugs, inhouse customized hanging light mixed with the fresh greens provides this space an essence of comfort. As you enter the abode, a foyer opens its doors to show a magnificent central courtyard brimming with the beauty of foliage. Various areas seamlessly flow across three sides of the courtyard, each area meticulously created to soak in the naturalness that the home enjoys.

Living room of Hovering House of Parikhs by Anarr Gunjaria Interiors and Modo Design

Family and formal living open floor plan and large window connect the interior with the outdoor garden and verandah, fostering a sense of spaciousness and allowing natural light to illuminate the room. The art on living room wall is inspired from earthy landscape and textures and it’s been woven beautifully by Morri designs, wherein art displayed in the dining area by Vaidehii Parikh merges with the greenery outside the verandah, creating a play of shadows from the path of sun inside.

Texture plays a crucial role, incorporating elements like handwoven fabrics & rugs, intricate embroidery in wall art, or polished stone surfaces, elevating the tactile experience within the space. Artisanal touches, such as handcrafted artifacts and locally sourced décor, infuse authenticity. The use of traditional elements such as intricately carved display unit or brass accents adds a touch of cultural roots. Anarr also tailor-designed a set of table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling pendants to bedeck the space.

All the bedrooms consist of a cohesive material palette that includes cane wood, brass, and linens to add the element of snugness to it. First floor is the family area where master and daughter room is opening in a family lounge area, giving cosy and comfortable space to relax, the room poses as a versatile space for the family, laced with a snug mood of leisure and visually rich functionality. The most loved, client’s art studio opens up into terrace witness vistas of lush greenery outside which evokes creativity.

Layering was one of the important tool to create a sense of depth in the larger spaces. Fabrics of varying textures, pieces of furniture belonging to various styles, organic mix of plants and varied artwork give the space a feeling of a home that is well curated, lived in and grown over a time.
