Quaint living is a luxury affordable to few in the 21st century, metropolitan world. However, such is not the case with the retirement city of Pune. Suiting the very essence of quaint living is the Jain Residence crafted in the upscale locale of Balewadi. This 1,700 sqft apartment, meticulously designed by the Think team, showcases how thoughtful interior design enhances residents' quality of life in the city’s hustle bustle.

From the outset, the residence establishes a serene ambiance that does justice to the welcoming family inside. Marble flooring graces the entirety of the space, transitioning seamlessly to wooden flooring in the master bedroom to the matte grey tiles that extend this tranquillity further onto the balcony. A sleek wooden entry console, adorned with a planter, welcomes guests, while a dusky teal Asian Paints wall paint adds a cheerful touch to the hospitality. Here, you also see a unique wall treatment of vertical grooves in the wall plaster—these vertical grooves will accompany the rest of the house to maintain a design language of its own.

The spacious living room exhibits a harmonious blend of comfort and aesthetics, achieved through a palette of whites and browns. The feature wall is a testament to the praxis of design principles learnt in the initial stages of design; it shows a strong sense of visual symmetry put to use. The L-shaped TV unit has a mandir concealed in a tower on one side and a door of the exact same colour and height on the other side. Ample natural light floods the space, accentuating its airy ambiance, while strategic colour selections add depth and warmth.

The kitchen boasts a harmonious mix of grey Quartz and laminated acrylic by Bell Laminates, facilitating ergonomic functionality. Adjacent, the dining area features a marble-top table with handcrafted wooden legs, complemented by a corner display unit making efficient use of space. This praxis of a visually open floor plan integrates the dining room, kitchen, balcony, and living room, creating a connected and harmonious environment. The bigger-than-life balcony offers a serene retreat with a traditional seat swing, fostering a connection with nature.

Moving beyond the living area, bedrooms offer secluded sanctuaries. The master bedroom, adorned in muted pinks and light greys, emanates tranquillity. Abundant natural light and thoughtful design elements, such as ombre curtains and plush fabrics, enhance the peaceful atmosphere. Opposite the bed, a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe stands as a discreet yet functional feature. Similarly, the kids' room exudes energy with muted blues and vibrant browns, incorporating playful details like triangular wall shelves and quirky handles.

Throughout the residence, elements of interior design are meticulously curated, including the smart utilisation of space, colours, and materials, as well as maximising natural light. Vertical grooves in the plaster add depth without overwhelming the space, culminating in a transitional style that imparts the residence with its unique character, tailored for modern-age, relaxed living.
