La Rever begins with a question the client never knew to ask: how do you build privacy into a home without making it feel closed? The answer became the organising idea of the entire project — a single continuous wall that moves through the site from south to north, carving three zones of inhabitation without a single locked door.

The wall defines the sequence: entrance court and formal living, semi-private pool terrace and dining, and the innermost family spaces and bedrooms. An arched portal marks the primary crossing — a moment of compression before the plan opens into the landscape. The pool sits against the grooved plaster face of the wall, tropical planting at its base, the curved soffit of the house above. Still, composed, and specific to this place.

Materials are drawn from Kerala's building tradition — rubble stone cladding, terracotta roofing, timber joinery — but the spatial logic is entirely contemporary. Interiors follow without interruption: curved soffits, double-height volumes, a circular timber wall installation, and olive upholstery against raw stone.

La Rever is, at its core, a house about threshold — the understood distance between a visitor's experience of a home and a family's experience of living in it. That idea came not from an architectural reference, but from a client who knew exactly how he wanted his family to live.
