From the foyer a visitor is directed towards the drawing room and den or the family members can directly walk into the corridor to reach the family room or the bedrooms. The drawing room and the den both emphasize on large openings with expansive glazing, which provide ample natural light into the space and create a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors. The walls have muted mouldings to emit an overall sense of neoclassical interiors.
The drawing room, made to host about 15-20 people is designed with soft pastel beige tones on both the walls and its furniture to enhance the extensive green landscape around it. The space is accentuated further with a walnut wooden ceiling and a large focal ceiling hanging light.
On the other hand, the den was ideated to feel rustic yet an intimate setting for private gatherings. The den also hosts a bar area and leather couches that makes it more cozy. It also opens up to the expansive lush green lawns outside on two sides. The front wall is painted dark forest green to blend with the landscape and to feel more warmth, it is adorned with a fireplace and classical mouldings. The living and the den can also seamlessly connect with one another with a sliding door between them. Both the rooms are also filled with multiple traditional Kashmiri carpets to add colours and intricacy.

The dining area is considered the center point of the house and is connected to the den through the bar and to the rest of the house through the corridor. It showcases a fusion of classical elegance and clean modernity, where the dining table and chairs themselves are very classical in style, solid wood with intricate mouldings. The simple mouldings adorn the walls and add to the clean line geometry on the other hand. The texture painted ceiling has a deep recess to highlight verticality and at the center hangs an antique rose gold crystal chandelier.
Next to the dining is a formal coffee area for any visitor who is to be hosted for a short while. This area also opens up to large window panes and a sculpture court at its back. It has fluidic furniture with curves in bright lavender tone to break with the rest of the zones.
The large corridor connecting the formal and informal zones of the house is kept minimal with beige marble flooring, clean ceilings with only accent lighting. They were also filled with large artworks and carefully selected plants.

Family lounge of Mehalin Farm by Ajay Nirmal Architects
The family lounge at the rear is used as a private gathering space and TV watching area for the family. The TV wall has a veneer wall paneling with wooden mouldings and a brass bookshelf. The TV unit itself was finished in wooden and dark grey stone. The rest of the walls were painted in a warm beige tone to enhance the volume of the space and again connect with the overall landscape areas through large glazing.
The design philosophy embodies simplicity and functionality which seamlessly blends the interior spaces to the surroundings, creating a serene abode where one can truly escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban life.
