Nestled in the heart of a burgeoning urban landscape , the site is elevated on higher ground and surrounded by commercial enterprises to the south, residential units to the north and west, and a timber mill to the east . The site lacks any desirable natural landscapes around.

Their design epitomizes a direct response to the contextual needs. The layout is inward looking, segregating public and private realms from the main entrance. The central rain courtyard with the poetic presence of a mango tree, becomes the narrative's focal point—a liminal space of traditional essence where the echoes of yesterday and the aspirations

of tomorrow seamlessly intertwine.

The design ethos champions an open-plan layout, blurring interior-exterior boundaries, fostering seamless transitions. Clutter free spaces flowing effortlessly, large volumes, seamless materials, clean surfaces and geometrically designed elements offer a heightened experience of simplicity, calmness, harmony and geometry.

Conscious juxtaposition of covered and open areas and the presence of greenery and the play of light intertwined with it, elevates the experiential quality of all spaces. Green courts emerge as a living backdrop to every space, a dynamic interplay mirroring the changing moods of the seasons and the passage of time.

Adhering to modernist aesthetics, they've tailored their design to suit the tropical context, ensuring sensory delight and psychological comfort. Minimum material application complements their quest for an ambient spatial milieu.

The imposing entry marked by geometric patterns, leads to a bold wooden door that ushers one into a foyer revealing the core of the design- a central courtyard on one side and a guest living room on the other.

Family living of Peringattil Veedu by Studio Homosapiens

Circulation within the house revolves around the rain court across both floors, doubling as an overflow area during family gatherings. The courtyard, featuring a tiled roof,wooden pillars, a patterned grill overhead, mango tree, and nostalgic paintings,embodies a traditional volume within the overarching structure. All spaces maintain a constant dialogue with this courtyard, celebrating its varying moods both visually and functionally. Aligning in a row are the family living room, dining area, and kitchen. Both the floors houses two bedrooms each.

The design and massing prioritize optimal thermal comfort. Larger openings invite cool breezes from the western valley. The central courtyard dramatizes airflow within. Covered balconies and patio on the southern and western sides act as thermal buffers. The use of laterite as the building material significantly diminishes internal heat accumulation.
