As the name suggests, Prakriti is an angelic abode, that embraces the aesthetics of nature and blends well into the emerald landscape of the countryside area of Karyavattom. The vernacular construction is a paradisical treat to the eyes of the beholders by Solo, an architecture firm of a group of skilled architects of Trivandrum. These insanely talented folks have been triumphant in the productive use of the concept of randomness, which is strikingly evident inside out, bringing forth the uniqueness of the concept and construction to notice, while also ensuring maximum storage space without tampering with the spaciousness or the beauty of the house. The slope roof at different levels and the unique style of the staircase are examples of this concept. Interestingly, like the Japanese concept of ‘wabi-sabi’ which means perfectly imperfect, they have also managed to bring in consistency into the randomness through flower patterns visible in nearly all of its factors, even in their self-designed furniture, voicing out their attention to detail.

Right from the entrance to the exit, the house is well lit and ventilated using spaces that are categorized into open, semi-open and closed, with the intelligent use of joineries, jalis, patios and courtyards bringing in bounteous amounts of natural lighting and air while also ensuring privacy and separation wherever necessary. The ambience, especially during the daytime, is incredibly divine with the house being bright and pleasant ensuring positivity, tranquility, an aura of prosperity and togetherness and the feeling of home, throughout the house. While preserving the natural and traditional aesthetics, the house also accommodates subtle traces of contemporary architectural styles to ensure maximum comfort and convenience of the occupant. Even the color palette used for the house, which includes ivory, black, wooden and muddy is minimalistic yet blissful to conceive for all our sensory receptors.

The house is synonymous to a serene haven in all seasons providing the snuggly warmth in the cold and the comfy chill in the blazing heat. The vigilant use of the materials for construction itself highlights the sensitivity with which the work has been done. The balanced and compassionate approach of team Solo has helped materialize this magnificent and yet cozy house in a cost-efficient manner without compromising on the desires of the house owner. Moreover, in the words of the client, “The first plan that they conceptualized for us itself gave us goosebumps and without a second thought we decided that they are the right person to build our dream home. Right from the plan to the final beauty, our home has turned to is all because of the hardwork and innovation of these architects. At moments we have even wondered if they are building our home or their own!”
