The overall vision of the space was to create something that breaks the monotony, a space that is lively ye calm.House for family gatherings away from work. A space that is clutter free, minimal yet brings out life and character. A 3-bedroom bare shell apartment is rendered into a space that speaks art and gives a refreshing feel.

Repeated patterns provide seamless flow that makes your eye travel around the room in a more balanced and soothing manner. The layers of geometry and colours adds more visual interest and gently segregates the areas which adds a sense of dynamism and gives direction & dimension to the space. The essence of the design is dictated by the emotion it evokes and the spatial character it plays with the rhythmic flow of simplistic lines, textures, materials, colours, patterns & geometry while enabling easy transition from one space to another.

When I received the site to work on, the flooring and bathrooms were given by the developer. We had to work around the existing floor palette. The challenge was to add character to every room and every wall as per each individual that was to use this house. I had to experiment adding textures in different forms in different rooms. The effort throughout has been to reflect the character in the design. Taking you through each room:
1) Entrance Foyer- The entrance Foyer is adorned with a neutral palette. These muted shades have underlying hues that change with lights around. The entrance foyer gives a very clean and calm look. The horizontal pattern lines gives direction to the flow of space and lead you to the living and dining area.
2) The dining and living space is segregated by patterns and colours. The dining walls are super bold. The rust colour creates a moody drama in the nook. The vertical lines again gives a flow towards the tv area and passage that leads to the bedroom on either sides. The breaking of colour vertically from dark to light also gives a vertical flow to the space.
3) Coming to the Tv wall, the grid on wall again gives a sequence to the design. The blue shade on wall gives a relaxing feeling to space.
4) The painting used all over are based on colour blocking theme.
5) The passage is adorned with a full height mirror at the end and white walls on either sides enlarges the space visually. The mirror in the end multiplies the bedroom doors on either sides.
6) Bedroom 1 – The striped soft geometric wallpaper at the back adds additional height to the room’s proportion. The natural wood slab headboard and its organic shape and colours adds a magical feel to the geometrically organised design.
7) Bedroom 2- This gives a quirky look. The Natural Green Tease shade is combine with Balsam Brown. They match perfectly without overlapping each other. The space though looks quirky and contract it belongs to the same design family of patterned lines, grid and textures. The placement and colour add a totally different character to it.
8) Bedroom 3 – Gives a very relaxing feel. Combine shades of beige, ochre, brown, cream & white provides a calm and cozy foundation.Dark wood furniture makes it more grounded.
9) All furniture pieces are custome made except a few. The living room chair is from Red Oak, Console & mirrors from Ikea. The wall structure is kept intact. Every detail is carefully crafted to create a space that is not only visually stunning but also highly functional. The design elements are consistent throughout all of the spaces so it feels like the areas flow together. It was a shared passion for colour, pattern and classic furniture that Client and I bonded over. Mixing sophisticated neutrals with bursts of accent colours akes the perfect balance.
