A project that embodied both a rare opportunity and a creative challenge was the architects’ own home — a space designed by two architects for themselves and for each other. Designing a home for oneself is never simple; designing it for a spouse who is also an architect transforms it into an evolving dialogue of ideas, sensibilities, and shared aspirations.

The 2,550 sq. ft. penthouse became a canvas of collaboration — a journey of creating energy, balance, and expression. The design embraces clean lines and open volumes, allowing each of their personalities to manifest through subtle layers of materiality and space.

The lower level was reimagined to reflect a modern, open lifestyle. Walls gave way to screens, panels, and art, creating fluid connections between the living room, family area, dining space, and kitchen. The layout captures the essence of natural light, ventilation, and views of the surrounding tree canopies. Material palettes and textures coexist harmoniously with furniture, books, music, and art, creating a lived-in aesthetic that feels both refined and personal. Bathrooms were designed as immersive experiences, defined by their play of color and mood. Artificial lighting was intentionally understated — with art subtly illuminated and ceilings glowing through recessed magnetic track lights and concealed linear profiles that set a warm evening ambiance.

The upper floor forms the home’s retreat — an intimate, happy space where all bedrooms open onto an expansive 800 sq. ft. terrace. This outdoor extension serves multiple purposes, accommodating gatherings, workouts, work sessions, and moments of quiet connection with nature. The daughter’s room reflects her individuality — an expressive mix of brick textures, natural materials, and splashes of color, with ample room for her Lego creations and friends. The architects’ bedroom, on the other hand, is a poetic interplay of elements — a floating bed framed by three screen doors and a Sabyasachi wallpaper backdrop, allowing for varying spatial experiences of light, view, and privacy.

Ultimately, the home stands as a balanced synthesis of two architectural minds — a space that nurtures creativity, celebrates individuality, and remains deeply personal. It is a house that harmonizes functionality with aesthetic expression, and above all, offers its creators a place to simply unwind and be themselves.
