Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Parappangady, Kerala. Project "Sakoon - Tranquility " is a manifestation of architectural excellence that seeks to harmoniously unite the natural beauty of the locale with the desires and emotions of its NRI client. This residence is a testament to the power of space and design to evoke profound feelings of peace and serenity while seamlessly blending with the surrounding nature. It was conceptualized with the intention of creating spaces that transcend the mere utilitarian aspects of a residence. It is designed to be an emotional journey, where every corner elicits feelings of serenity and a profound connection to nature. The architectural design employs a blend of modern aesthetics and traditional Kerala architecture to create spaces that are not only functional but also soul-stirring.

Since the site poses an irregularity in shape, there were limitations in planning. This was taken as an opportunity to create corner spaces by tilting the building with respect to the Street line. The corner space hence enhanced the design theme of integrating nature into the interiors. The L-shaped long verandah is designed, as it provides ample space for seating and relaxation, making it an ideal place to socialize with neighbors and immerse in the beauty of the surroundings during morning and evening activities. Living area is planned in such a way to ensure privacy for other common functional spaces while offering a view of the inner courtyard. This not only maintains the integrity of each space but also adds an element of intrigue for visitors. The interplay between privacy and curiosity can create a dynamic and engaging environment, making the living area a central and captivating part of the home.

The design strategy for this NRI client's home is well-suited to their needs, focusing on open planning and a sense of togetherness during their vacation visits. The open layout with minimal barriers between the kitchen, dining, and family living areas promotes a feeling of spaciousness and unity. Placing the staircase in the open area and creating a common courtyard visible from all these spaces adds a unique charm and reinforces the theme of bringing nature inside. The positioning of the TV unit in the family living area, visible from both the kitchen and dining area, encourages interaction and a sense of shared experiences. The swing in the courtyard contributes to the relaxed and informal living concept.

The connection to an outside patio, ample daylight, and ventilation provided by skylights and frameless glass panels further align with the design's goal of seamlessly integrating nature into the living spaces. The open courtyard with a double-height area that connects the four bedroom spaces on the upper floor is intended for interaction. It not only adds a sense of grandeur and openness to the upper floor but also fosters a strong sense of connectivity and interaction among the residents.

The five bedroom spaces, one at the Ground floor and others at the upper floors were designed with the consideration for cross ventilation and unobstructed nature views through well-placed windows. Providing balcony areas for the upper bedrooms offers outdoor access but also promotes interaction between the bedrooms and appreciation of nature. Wardrobes are gracefully placed, and long curtains adding charm to the interior, all in a soothing light color palette.

The House has views from both roads running across the site. The orientation of the house was aligned and conceptualized in such a way that, it create a harmonious and attractive appearance from both roads. The elevation was designed keeping a minimalistic approach which also blends with functional planning. The use of light colors in the elevation contributes to a sense of simplicity and elegance, further enhancing the minimalistic theme.
