The food foundry as the name suggest was envisioned as a multi-purpose venue which would entertain guests over food and drinks amidst the balmy grasping décor. Foundry means a place where metal and glass is melted into various shapes and sizes. This was the starting point of the journey for the food foundry. The space was developed around glass and metal taking various forms and shapes in the outlet. The idea was to create an atmosphere where maximum importance was given to materials in their natural form with focus on locally sourced materials. The concept for the place revolved around developing a congenial café which would make the customer feel at home through the warmth created with the use of local materials in their raw form.

The theme for the café and bar was developed keeping the location and surrounding in mind. The outlet is situated in a commercial area in New Mumbai, so the focus was to drive in the corporates along with families throughout the week. Maximum importance was given to everything natural. Materials, color palette and of course abundance of natural sunlight were immensely encouraged. Space boasts of a metal frame with huge glass window panels on one side letting in the natural light along with stone cladding walls with classic oak wood paneling to balance the warmth in the space. The focus was stressed more towards customization and personalization of specific items which added further flavor to the outlet. Promotion towards collaborations with local artisans was generated through jute stitched fabrics, cane weaving on chairs, and paper mache décor items at the display. The key was to let the material breathe its natural shelf in terms of finishes with appropriate detailing to provide a platform for variety.
