Mariyam Residence, nestled in a serene residential community in Thamarassery, Kerala, is a thoughtful response to its surroundings. Situated on a 13.2-cent linear rectilinear plot, the villa's south-facing orientation affords stunning views of the adjacent paddy fields. From the outset, the client's brief emphasized the need for a budget-friendly design that incorporated all essential requirements, including a courtyard with a fish pond.

To optimize costs, they opted for a single-story structure, cleverly leveraging the plot's existing 1-meter elevation above the front road level. The design seamlessly integrates greenery into every interior space, fostering a harmonious connection between the built environment and nature. This synergy is further enhanced by the incorporation of natural materials and ample ventilation, ensuring a healthy and sustainable living space.

Angular Minimalist façade design featuring sleek metal aluminum windows, complemented by the warm, earthy tones of Tandur stone, expertly integrated into the landscape and repurposed as steps, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces and adding a touch of sophistication to the overall aesthetic.

The residence is designed in a minimalist way, considering both form and material. Clean lines, simple volumes, and an emphasis on functionality define the design. To introduce a touch of visual interest and personality, a subtle accent of pale blue is strategically incorporated throughout the house, creating a sense of continuity and visual flow.

To maximize natural light and ventilation, they incorporated skylights in the passage and kitchenette. This strategic design element serves a dual purpose: it not only brings in an abundance of natural light but also utilizes the stack effect to remove hot air from the interior spaces. By doing so, they've eliminated the need for active air systems during the day. Residence seamlessly blends sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics, creating a harmonious retreat that not only responds to its surroundings but also elevates the living experience.
