Aweekend house settled in outskirts of Ahmedabad with a beautiful existing setting of more than 50 fully grown trees. The house is designed on a seven feet uplifted land from the existing ground. This single storey weekend home was visualised with a very site specific aura. Sections were developed in a way that one should have a view of plenty existing trees topiary from the house. Also, the vision to take existing trees to create both ways backdrop for the house uplifted the view from the house.

Courtyards were designed considering the existing trees along with the sun light movement. The landscape is divided into two parts where the main garden area is at the lower level, whereas the view points are created on the upper house level. Exposed Rcc and exposed bricks were the most suitable materials to this site which can enhance the rawness of site. These both materials covered the vision in terms of very muted built up with little rustic vibrancy at some parts of the house. Along with these exterior facades the internal spaces were created with same material walls to balance inside out concept of the home. Large heighted glasses are the most dynamic part of the house which creates a lot of shadows and reflections of the existing and proposed greens. Also, it is an element which showcases the expanse of site and caters grandness. Brown Kota complemented the house very well and it added a timeless factor to the house.

The house is placed with considerable setback from the main door to experience the woods before entering the house. The courtyard is designed just after the entrance of the house to show glimpse of the back landscape. The courtyard has red gravels to add texture along with one large element boulder to complete the frame. Living room and entertainment room is placed on the both sides of the courtyard facing to the main back landscape. Living and dining spaces are permeable with twelve feet height volume.

The dining area faces a small courtyard with boulder seating and loose gavels with minimal plantation, which allows good amount of light penetration in the whole wing. The living area opens up in the large veranda where an existing tree is retained. The slab was designed with cut-outs for branches which was taken care carefully during execution as well. The veranda opens up in the flat lawn area before the gentle slope to the main garden with a level difference of seven feet.

Leisure pool is placed exactly in the middle of the proposed contour where it projects out in the lower landscape while creating the infinity. The pool end is a viewing gallery where you experience the whole landscape and appreciate the expanse of the site. The lounge is the space from where you experience a small courtyard with waterfall as well as the pool. It also overlooks the champa of the entrance courtyard with an exposed rcc wall backdrop creating a space breathable with a lot of nuances of landscape. The passage to bedrooms has a skylight, which showers natural sunlight on the chill wood textured expose rcc wall.

This soft light is the cherishing element of the whole house. Both bedrooms are designed in the cottage like planning to maintain privacy and to reflect an experience of another courtyard on the passage end. Bedroom verandas are also created with reference to the existing trees. Overall, this site got justice by working on architecture and landscape together. The existing trees, deliberated courtyard planning and exposed rcc volumes sums up the whole site in a very dynamic manner.
