Janani is a 2200 square-foot home designed at Nadathara, Thrissur, Kerala. The client Mr. Harish, an excise officer, approached the architect with a request to design a family home as a place that takes them back to their roots, despite their busy professional life. His family consists of his wife who is a college lecturer, and their two young daughters. They need a home with spacious and open feel, prioritizing a sense of connection to their residence once they retire. Moreover, their thoughtful consideration of their differently abled child's unique needs forms the bedrock of the design.

The initial concept that took shape was rooted in the idea of an open floor plan that helped to elevate the spatial quality of the house's interior. A key element in achieving the client's tropical style preference was with the incorporation of a small tree within the small indoor courtyard space which also improves emotional well-being.

The staircase and front door paneling are primarily crafted from elegant rosewood, lending a touch of sophistication. Teak wood is used for windows, doors, and various furniture pieces throughout the house. And oxide flooring offers a budget friendly alternative. Sloping roof is offered to match with traditional architectural design. The use of exterior roofing tiles and inside ceiling tiles create an interesting visual contrast that can be enjoyed from within the home.
