Amazing MVPs from interior designers and architects worldwide are included in this curation. A different stairway leads to the maid's entrance. The Puja is set against a backdrop of concrete panels over a pool of water.

It is a bold yet subtle home, designed with natural materials and passive techniques to tackle extreme climatic conditions. Stereotypes were broken with heavy plasterwork, gilded metal grills, and elevation design, showcasing the richness of architectural vocabulary and cultural elements.
A Home Leftover by Ego Design Studio

It was a house left by an organization that promised to support it economically. The project began as a low-income house, but the support group withdrew after the foundation was completed. To keep the leftover foundation, Ego Design Studio renovated a high-budget house in Kowdiar. The client, Mr. Sugathan, generously donated the wooden windows, starting the project with material donations.

Post-Covid, residences have evolved into spaces for work, rejuvenation, and retreat. This residence, surrounded by buildings and a 100-feet main road, is open, spacious, and biophilic. The design addresses noise, neighbouring buildings, and the south side facade. The facade design includes a south wall for wardrobes and ferrocement fins for sliding glass shutters.
Pestle Tones Harmony by Karya Design Studio

This apartment is designed with a serene pestle tones theme, providing a calming atmosphere for a young couple. The earthy tones in the living spaces and bedrooms add depth and personality, blending aesthetics and functionality to create a visually captivating and emotionally enriching experience.
Harmony Courtyard Villa by Studio Clay

• Area: 7500 sq. ft.
• Location: Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
The client redesigned a property with a 30 feet front edge, 20 feet rear edge, and 10 feet side opening to maximize cross ventilation and green spaces. They left 5 feet on the western edge, opening the building from all four sides. The residence combines earthy tones with modern elements, featuring two bedrooms for senior residents and two living spaces.

This house is a contemporary luxury living space designed by the Sharwan family. Its exterior facade blends modernity with elegance, featuring minimalist forms and natural materials. The house features crafted wooden jaalis and expansive windows with breathtaking views, showcasing the Sharwan family's vision for a private sanctuary.

This project blends traditional Kerala architecture with modern contemporary elements. It has a park with woodland areas and is situated among the urban sprawl. The challenge lies in protecting against unwelcome visitors like snakes and insects and embracing the harmonious symphony of birdsong and the invigorating breeze. The design serves Three generations: an elderly couple, their teenage daughter, and their parents. With a 3-meter-tall Corten steel gate, the house's outer face highlights its massive form.
Heritage Legacy by The Art Container

The client aims to create a modern, UNESCO-inscribed pol house, blending contemporary aesthetics with heritage. The interior design features Green Kota and Brown Kota stones with inlay patterns, linear divisions, and tactile surfaces. The courtyard features a bespoke dining table inspired by the Champa Leaf and Rajasthan green marble with brass inlay.
Swarnim International School by Abin Design Studio

The school's built environment is crucial for children's development, serving as their "second home" and a place of comfort, growth, safety, and empowerment. Chola is a rectangular plot with western-side highway access, private settlements, and greenery. It prioritizes openness, visual connectivity, light, ventilation, and privacy. The landscape merges with interiors, offering panoramic views of an infinity pond and paddy field. The architecture focuses on nature's beauty, with the building at the center.

The architect designed a culturally well-rooted space, incorporating childhood memories from Udupi's coastal heritage. The corner plot features a façade structure with rectangular clay sections, a veranda with granite seating, and a well-lit foyer with a stairway, elderly room, and kitchen counter. The space reflects traditional household elements.
Royal Acre Residence by K.N. Associates

It is a contemporary family home with textured concrete walls, a calm decor, and modern furniture. It combines contemporary elements with a chic aesthetic, featuring exposed RCC slabs, Gwalior mint stone cladding, hardwood timber, and a circular-cut-out roof. The entryway and living room feature muted greys and timber wood, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere.
Chirath Residence by Wallmakers

• Area: 1811 sq. ft.
• Location: Pala, Kerala
A sustainable architecture practicing firm is working with a modern client, Mr. Ramanujan Basha, who disapproves of traditional Kerala home systems and gender inequality. The concept of Chirath, meaning "light" in Malayalam, was developed by breaking the roof and allowing light to flow in. Despite the waste production, the firm believes in creating a more sustainable and utilitarian house.

A hidden farmhouse in Nashik's countryside is a personal space for the architects' family, built on a sloping stone wall. Surrounded by a dam and dense trees, it offers ambiguity for visitors. The farmhouse's entrance features birds and bees, a sheltering roof, and a cool terracotta floor. The simplicity of the farmhouse, combined with the warmth of natural elements, creates a harmonious atmosphere.
Athulyam by Outlined Architects

Athulyam is a modern, minimalist-inspired home in the city center. It includes a 2BHK villa for rental and a 3BHK duplex for the client's family. The façade features warm materials and textures, with a denser brick jaali for privacy and a lighter first floor with wooden textured aluminium panels. The house features a compact ground floor house, an open sit-out space, and an expansive living room.

The client required a house design following 24 Vastu directions and two identical houses for two families on two plots. The master plan includes two house placements and a driveway surrounded by green islands. The house is designed around two Brahmasthans, addressing the courtyard, which reflects vibrancy and warmth, and is surrounded by built-ups and a screen.

The client requested a south-facing plot for a single family of doctors, requiring maximum daylight and ventilation. Due to low plot space, they opted for levels, parking, and a kitchen on the ground floor. They also used massive windows for safety and rigidity, extending the roof to protect it from direct sun exposure. The design focuses on well-being and contemporary elements.
Komorebi House by Adhwa

This multi-level family home features large volumes and outdoor connections, with exposed RCC, Kandla stone, grit plaster, and mild steel screens. Art is present in various forms, including sculptural pieces, hand-painted murals, and handpicked paintings. The entrance foyer transitions into an informal seating area, while the formal living, dining, and open kitchen merge.

This eco-friendly residence is designed with earthy elements to blend in with the lush green paddy field. The house is intended to be a peaceful space for the clients' aging parents and a playful space for their children. The house features 2 bedrooms, a spacious living and dining area, a master bedroom, and a family living space with a deck.

The residence aimed to create a unique, aesthetically appealing, comfortable, and open living space in a residential neighbourhood. The architect designed a white canvas-like structure with rounded edges, resembling stadium blocks in a Tetris game. The house radiates calmness with a white interior finish, furniture following the same design language, and a curved sculpture-like staircase as a focal point.

Lakeshore is a vacation home aiming to maximize the scenic views of the Sahyadri mountains and the serene lake, considering the narrow site's westward tapers. The volumes are derived in a linear format that complements the water's edge.

This residential project combines modern design with traditional inspiration, drawing inspiration from the Japanese concept of "komorebi". This earthen residence was designed on a forestry farm for sustainable living clients. It features a symmetrical living space, a central courtyard, and wooden columns. The design balances environmental awareness and craftsmanship.

The house is a home office for a design firm, Dryine LLP, incorporating biophilic design. It features a double-height courtyard, pooja, living area, kitchen, dining, and parents' bedroom, with a 9-foot-high entrance and a double-height wall tiled with rocks and plants. The living area has a clay-tiled TV wall, a 13-foot window, and a balcony.
Telugu Medium by Sona Reddy Studio

Telugu Medium is a unique blend of heritage and culinary excellence. The restaurant celebrates the essence of the Deccan with indigenous materials and vernacular building techniques. The architecture features brick domes, vaults, and load-bearing walls, creating a cooler interior for Hyderabad's arid climate.

V House is a post-retirement home designed to enhance living through light and materials. It consists of two levels: ground level, focusing on earth and darkness, and upper level, focusing on light and openness. The architecture, made of granite stone and reclaimed teak wood, ages with its inhabitants.
Nandi-Aalayam by Madhuri Reddy Architects

Inspired by the location and historical temples, his bungalow is a harmonious living space for three generations of the Reddy family. The design integrates vernacular elements with modern features, showcasing Indian culture. The home features natural wood, inherited rosewood, and large windows and doors made of teak wood, enhancing its organic feel.

CK House is a family-friendly home designed to integrate with the surrounding greenery and scenic routes. The farmhouse-inspired house features two gable-shaped volumes, maintaining proportional symmetry. Designed for a family of six, the house has a pre-existing foundation and a canopy-like car porch. The veranda walls are clad in black leather-finish granite, creating a floating appearance.

The client's ancestral plot, surrounded by boulders and vegetation, was an idyllic spot with unrestricted views. Despite its inaccessibility and steep slope, the project began during the pandemic. The client wanted a contemporary house in a region with traditional architecture, combining vernacular planning techniques with contemporary design. The project unfolded magically, showcasing the beauty of love and architecture.

This house was built 150 years ago in harmony with its natural surroundings. A renovation was needed to provide structural stability and modern space. The goal was to breathe new life into the structure while preserving its charm and harmony with nature. The design integrated with existing architecture, addressing termite-proofing, concealed wiring, updated flooring, and a thoughtful spatial layout.

This residence combines an East Indian cultural background with the coast. The facade features bricks, creepers, and a metal canopy, while the amphitheatre evokes the sea's mood and the traditional folk song of sailors.

The house is a sunlit, 7'x9' linear space with a 10 ft. high wooden door opening to a natural light-filled space. The formal living room is directed by a curved wall, and the staircase flight from the first to the second floor features a glass skylight and metal staircase with teak wood steps.
Brick Abode by D.I.B Collaborative

Brick Abode combines modernist design principles with vernacular aesthetics. Its strategic massing creates spill-out spaces like terraces, sit-out windows, and balconies, integrating with the surrounding environment. The raw, unembellished treatment of building systems aligns with transparency and practicality. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a lush green lawn and a dramatic bullseye arch blending the indoor and outdoor environment.
Sendhil Studio by EDOM Architecture

• Location: Mysore, Karnataka
Sendhil Residence is a minimalistic rustic cottage designed for Mr. Sendhil Narayan, who wanted a space adjacent to his self-owned school, ICTLCS. The studio is a stand-alone structure with a different architectural style, connected to the school grounds for easy accessibility and continuity with the site. The studio accommodates a single bedroom, office, dining, pantry, and living spaces.
As the ‘Hot100- The Hottest MVPs of 2024’ concludes, we see that the most well-known projects demonstrate how interested both seasoned professionals and up-and-coming designers are in examining novel architectural styles.
